[lace] Messages not getting through

2014-07-23 Thread Catherine Barley
I've read with interest the many postings on this subject which prompted me to
check on the email addresses of the 'Junk' mail received and they are almost
ALL aol addresses! Some are all AOL (upper case) and some aol (lower case).
Devon, all of your emails come through in my Junk mail too but you have been
able to receive replies from me in the past in response (Miss Channer's mat
and with scanned images as attachments). However, I notice that some of you
emails are lower case and some are upper case.

I have received quite a few enquiries as to the cost of postage for copies of
my book but when I have replied quoting the rather expensive postage costs, I
have not received a reply and naturally assumed that it was too expensive and
that they were not going to place an order. In view of the emails I've read
this morning, I am now going to go back through my files and check to see if
the emails were aol or not as I might have lost some potential sales!

I will not use exclamations marks (!) in my Subject titles neither with I use
all upper case to draw attention to the email. Thank you everyone for all the
very useful information posted.

[lace] Lost emails to Arachne

2014-07-23 Thread Celtic Dream Weaver
I have sent two emails now and I don't see either one anywhere. Why aren't my
messages getting through? This has happened to me before. This is frustrating
for me.

[lace] Need a leaf for my poppy

2014-07-23 Thread Sue
Or so I keep being told, or rather asked when people see my new poppy. I
made two petals using Janices’ pattern (thank you Janice) but drew a new
slightly bigger one to replicate some poppies growing in my garden at the
moment (I took one gently apart and drew round the petals to get an idea of
shape and size. I drew the black lines on, as in the original idea but also
included a lovely little gold button which looks amazing and I am very pleased
with it. I have taped it into a small stem which I have attached to a brooch
pin. This suits me better than the way I finished off the original one in
2007 and this one has definitely seen better days but has done a lovely job.
I have several different flower books but I cant see any leaf patterns that I
have been shown are the right ones for a poppy, so for now am not doing
anything. Has anyone else made a leaf to go on theirs and if so what shape
leaf did you use please?I could make one with the ordinary poppy petal
shape, but the images show almost a holly leaf shape. I am using Coton Perle
8 so its not fine threads.
Happy Lace making, I am currently being very good and making one other flower
to go with two that I made several years ago in finer threads and various
colours to fit into an old clock dome, so will finally complete one of my long
term UFO’s. I promised myself I would at last before I get swept up into
lots of other second half of the year items.

Indeed, my recent posts to arachne have even gone into my spam box. I also
noticed that the aol was written in capitals, which looked odd to me. When
I write an email, I write it from my aol account and I have no idea why it
capitalizes (sometimes?) the aol part of the address or how that might be
changed. In fact, I sent a test message to myself and it came through fine.
It had lower case letters in it, although I sent it in the usual way. Is
there something happening to the letters aol that capitalizes them as they
pass through the Arachne software?

[lace] puzzling aol capitalization

2014-07-23 Thread dmt11home
Please be patient with me. I am trying to figure out why my mail to arachne
seems to come with capitalized aol. This is being sent from a different portal
to see if it still happens.

Re: [lace] Messages not getting through

2014-07-23 Thread AGlez
The messages sent by Jeri Ames, Celtic Dream Weaver and Devon go to my Junk
Box. There are no capital letters in these messages nor strange signs. It
has been happening for many weeks now, and I always mark it as no spam. But
nothing seems to change.

Thank you very much to all those who are trying to find solutions for this.

Best wishes and happy lacemaking!

2014-07-23 Thread Karen Bovard
Not sure if this is pertinent to this discussion or not but I have been
having problems getting in touch with anyone at IOLI for quite some time.
Just recently I sent another inquiry about something.  In the past I sent
multiple messages to several people, with offers to write articles for The
Bulletin.  Either they have no interest in what I can offer, are too busy to
respond, or are not getting the messages. With my latest message (an offer
this time to spend/give them money even) I have already resigned myself to not
getting replies.

[lace] Avital

2014-07-23 Thread Clay Blackwell
Hi Adele,

As we all are probably aware, our ListMom is Avital, in Israel, whose son is
in the army there. As if that, with the Hamas attacks, is not enough to keep
her distracted, she and her husband have contracted Whooping Cough, and are
both miserable. So, I doubt if she is much worried about Arachne right now.
Let's keep her (and her family) in our thoughts and prayers, and let's all
behave while Mom is away!

Re: [lace] Messages not getting through

2014-07-23 Thread Malvary Cole
I don't usually have problems form Jeri, Celtic Dream Weaver and Devon, as
mention by Antje, but recently there was a message from Jane Partridge with
was replying to a message from Jacquie, who as most of you know is my
sister.

I don't have problems as we e-mail all the time, but there have been times
when she doesn't reply to a message from me - perhaps she has replied and I
haven't go it. She has an aol address.

My ISP just deletes the message so I don't know if there are messages I
haven't received.

Sorry Adele... Reading this over, I realize it may taken as scolding you, but
that was not my intent. I just wanted the list to be aware of Avital's
situation.

Hello Karen and everyone
It seems that yahoo email addresses are taken as spam now as well as AOL. I
hope someone at IOLI sees your message here and will get in touch with you?
