[lace] bobbin making videos
Thanks to the great article by and about Chris Parsons, bobbin maker, in the recent Lace Magazine from the Lace Guild in the UK, I was led to his website and his fascinating videos of creating bobbins. Thought that some of you might appreciate having this page pointed out: http://www.lace-bobbins.co.uk/videopage.html arlene in NJ on the east coast of the USyou don't want to read a weather report; it is simply miserably hot and steamy - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. [lace] Young Lacemakers bracelet pricking
Hello All! Size matters! When I printed out this cute pattern from the Lace Guild UK website, it doesn't seem like it is the correct scale. Can anyone tell me the correct length--either from A to the last crossing or from the top edge pin to the last edge pin--cm or inches? It looks like I need to increase the size of the pricking as I am printing on US standard 8.5x11 paper in portrait mode. I can't find an A4 setting on my printer I really did look because I managed to accidentally print staff paper just in case I want to compose a pavane in my spare time this afternoon! Many thanks. [lace] Printing the Young Lacemakers bracelet pricking
Following Bev's advice, I saved the photo of the pricking to a file. When I printed it, it was correct according to Jean's measurements of Gil's pricking. Lucky saved a trip to the copy shop. Doesn't always happen that way. Thanks again to all who lent a hand! Re: [lace] Young Lacemakers bracelet pricking
Hello Susan and everyone I bit - went to the pattern page (here for those curious - https://www.laceguild.org/ylm/bracelet.html ) Right clicked the pricking, selected copy image and pasted it into my picture viewer, printed as is and it was the length of our letter-size paper, bigger around than my wrist. If I would make it, I would photo-reduce the printout first. You can do the same with your printout if it looks too small, enlarge by scanning, or if that isn't an option for you, try setting the paper from the print menu of whatever picture viewing program you use. Another thing to try, paste the image into a word document, and there should be 'handles' around the image enabling you to enlarge/reduce to fit your paper and desired dimensions etc. On Fri, Aug 21, 2015 at 9:48 AM, Susan hottl...@neo.rr.com wrote: Hello All! [lace] Young Lacemakers bracelet
Thank you Helene Bev! Clearly I'm not qualified to use my printer! My printer only prints 8.5x11 so I'm sunk there. Will try to import the picture as Bev has suggested. My printout resulted in a bracelet 10.6cm/4-3/16 from top pin to last pin. My wrist is slightly bigger. The main reason I inquired was to be able to use the perle 8 cotton specified. Easy to use plenty of colors on hand. Hope you all agree it's worth the extra effort because it is quite charming. I plan to use a button start loop finish that I've been perfecting since Jean R. developed it for another bracelet project in our charter chapter. Re: [lace] Young Lacemakers bracelet pricking
Thank you Jean! I wondered if this was your work as I just finished perusing some back issues of Lace where you wrote several articles that involved lace with plaits picots. Now I can measure, get the ratio increase the size accordingly. Perfect! Thanks again. Can anyone tell me the correct length Susan, I added the bracelet pattern to the Lace Guild website and have the original pricking. The size should be 15.3 cm long (A to bottom pinholes), 1.6 cm wide. I made it at that size and it didn’t go round my wrist! That’s why I added the sentence about checking and adding more repeats if necessary. The pricking has been there a while - now I would give a size indication. Must remember to go and do that when I get back from next week’s holiday. Re: [lace] Young Lacemakers bracelet pricking
Hi Susan, Just checked the pattern on the Lace Guild Website. It says to measure your wrist and then add more repeats as necessary. Also, since A4 paper is a European size try printing it on Legal size paper which is larger than A4. On 8/21/15, Susan hottl...@neo.rr.com wrote: Hello All! Size matters!
