[lace] Re: Traveling with large pillows
Dear spiders, I have been a long time lurker, but have some information on traveling with our wonderful large pillows. www.dahon.com This is a bicycle company who makes folding bikes. I am currently in Japan on business, and just purchased myself a folding bike. In all of my research, I came across this site which makes a piece of luggage big enough to accomodate a large pillow. It is not cheap, a little over $200, and if oversized for the airport, so you have to pay a fee, but if you really want to do a workshop with the large pillow, this looks like it will fit the bill. I haven't actually seen it in person, but the smaller dimension for height and width is 26" The name of it is the Airporter.. I am currently working on the Campanuela Binche piece from Kumiko Nakasaki's Collection I, and my 18" pillow is really small for it. [lace] Re: Convention - Money
One more thought on traveling to any foreign country, or even across the USA. If you are using any credit or debit cards, be sure to contact the customer support people at your financial institution and tell them when and where you are traveling. If you don't, you might not be able to use it at all. With increased security for fraud, many institutions are getting very strict about that. Re: [lace] Montreal .... mangling demo?
Dear Spiders, I have witnessed Sally Schoenberg's mangling demo at a class she taught for our guild. It was one of the most amazing demos and fiber transformations I have ever seen. I used that technique for a piece of lace I made for my cousins 50th birthday. It was really hard to give it to her, as it was so very lovely and had that "linen" feel, just like Sally says. If you have the opportunity to see he demo it, I highly recommend taking her up on it. [lace] Excel, pocket pcs, and autofilter
Pocket Excel appears to have the same advanced filtering capability as the desktop version. If anyone has never used the autofilter function, this would be an excellent time to learn to use it. It is amazing what information can be retrieved...
