Good morning Arachnids Itâs cold and grey but at least it is not raining here in Sussex. I would like to contact Pat Crozier who attended lace classes in Thundersley, Essex around 1990. [lace] contact info for Gillian Dye?
A Google search didn't come up with a website for Gillian Dye. Does anybody have an email address for her? I have recently acquired a piece of 16th/17th C metal lace with spangles, and I'm hoping she can date it more precisely for me. Please email me privately at nancy.a.n...@gmail.com with any info. I'll upload a picture of the lace to Flickr as soon as I get the login info. I'm so excited at finding it. May 2021 was an amazing month -- I found a 17th C band sampler (on Ebay!!! -- the seller didn't know what she had), and then this piece of lace in a lot identified as mid-19th C. Re: [lace] Contact
Yes, and I maintain that the longer you let this build up, the more protection your antiques have from the elements, especially sunlight!!! Re: [lace] contact paper hint
Thanks, Janice for the earlier post...I got a couple of rolls last week when I spotted a Dollar Tree store near my Dad when I went to take him to an appointment. And you are right...I remember Ulrike suggesting the pinless pricking hint you mentioned. One other point she suggested, which back then I wasn't always doing, is to round all the edges of the pricking (or at least the matte film). Squared or pointed edges snag threads whereas rounded edges do not. Vicki in still soggy Maryland -Original Message- From: Janice Blair I posted recently about getting some clear shelf paper from the local dollar tree store. I also meant to post a hint that I think came from Ulrike Voelker. When you cut the film to cover your pricking, cut it about half an inch wider all round. After you have stuck your pricking onto it, you can place it on your pillow and it will hold in place, no pins required. - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. [lace] contact paper hint
I posted recently about getting some clear shelf paper from the local dollar tree store. I also meant to post a hint that I think came from Ulrike Voelker. When you cut the film to cover your pricking, cut it about half an inch wider all round. After you have stuck your pricking onto it, you can place it on your pillow and it will hold in place, no pins required. After finishing a piece of lace I was going to mount to matt board and frame, I just placed the pricking in the position I needed and the film was still sticky enough to hold it in place while I made the appropriate sewing holes, but came away without having any problems. I keep finishing projects but even though I have a workshop coming in June at the LACE lace day, I still feel the need to keep filling my pillows. RE: [lace] Contact for Ernst Zeisler
There's an article about Ernst in the OIDFA Bulletin #1 (Jan, Feb, Mar) 2008. Have you seen it? He says in the article that his hometown is Arendal, but I don't see any mention of an email address or home address. Surely the editor of the OIDFA Bulletin can pass an email on to him. [lace] contact with Lenka
Dear spiders Can anybody help me to get in contact with Lenka? Her website says she won't be answereing the phone, but she neither answers emails I sent to the address on tha page. My lace circle is planning an aniversary exhibit in november were (among other things) we will show a forest of her old tree. You can bet a lot of visitors will ask for the pattern, but the pattern is no longer online. Besides that a lot don't read English. I'd like her permission for a translation, either separately or bundled in a booklet we are planning. [lace] contact film
Hello Spiders I print with a desk-jet as I have it always at hand. I used to use blue matte film. But switched to couloured paper as blank film is much more easily available as window decoration, next to the wall paper. But maybe that is just the case for crowded regions. Select a matte one without structure. I must admit the ink and/or glue does come off to the pricking needle.
