[lace] I need a new magazine subscription
What about 'Lace Express'? Very glossy, with a variety of types of lace from all over the world from well-known designers. Much of the lace is fairly simple, but photographed spectacularly so it can make a simple torchon mat look really sumptuous. Some of the designs are shown with variations in stitches. Apart from the introduction in English, German, French, Dutch and Danish, there's almost no text - just pjotographs of lace and full-size prickings. It's expensive (62 euros, 43 pounds 40 pence) for 4 issues (April, July, October and January) and available through either Germany or Canada. Web sites: Canada - www.laceexpress.com Germany - www.laceexpress.de My only criticism is that during the summer months (don't know why only then) I have to open the envelope and put the magazine outside in he air for about an air to dissipate the fumes from the printing ink to avoid getting 'high'. :-) Usual disclaimers. I just went to their site and it said a year (even 2004) was 52 euros (65.85 USD). Still very expensive, but not as bad as it sounded from Jean's message. Robin P. Re: [lace] I need a new magazine subscription - Lace Express
My lace group subscribe to it, we just received issue number 4 for this subscription year. It is the Easter issue and has some patterns specific to the season and some general - mats, wearable lace etc. The Christmas issue is my personal highlight of the year. Can't be more specific as I gave it to our librarian last night. IMO for a lace group it is a good magazine and it fits in well with our other group subscription which is to the Lace Guild magazine. For an individual lone lace maker it probably doesn't have enough 'chat' for want of a better word - personally I need articles, book reviews, adverts etc for a one and only subscription. jenny barron Moray Lacemakers Scotland - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, February 06, 2004 3:39 PM Subject: Re: [lace] I need a new magazine subscription But + 10 euros postage surface mail to the UK.amp;nbsp; I keep thinking about it, but nearly £11 a copy.. [lace] I need a new magazine subscription
Prompted by Tamara's announcement (You go, girl!) I'd like to run a question past y'all. I have a magazine subscription running out that I don't want to renew (they went from fun crochet to fashion, and I just don't do Fashion :P ) What would you recommend as the one lace publication/group to subscribe to? To help maybe narrow it down, I love patterns, don't fuss over traditional or not, self-taught but *very* proficient at Making Things Work, not real keen on part laces - Honiton and the like, but am not limited to bobbin lace by any stretch. If you can't pick one, do two and tell me why. And if it doesn't fit what I wrote above, tell me anyway. I'm willing to be wrong :) I know this question comes up now and again on the list, but I haven't needed the information til now (isn't that always the way?) I don't crochet much at all any more and have plenty of patterns to keep me busy. I've never subscribed to a lace magazine before and I'd really like to give it a try. Thanks for any info y'all can give me :) Chris - ready to expand my world (I'm in the US, should it matter ;D ) = . |\_ Eagles may soar, (: _)Xbut weasels don't get |/ sucked into jet engines! __ Do you Yahoo!?
