[lace] Sorry.. I gave one wrong title.

2019-10-27 Thread brido11
The 1662 "title" is wrong.

It should be

Englands oldest dated bobbin. It is 5 pages long.

I think you will find it as it is one article in a series as I have found
"older" bobbins.

I do beg your pardon.

[lace] Sorry to repeat

2012-08-07 Thread Sue
A couple of weeks ago I asked if anyone knew where i might find a circular
torchon pattern, not a circular edge but one that will make a clock face
with a small hole in the centre for the hands to be fitted. I was looking
at one particular pattern to use which is bucks point, but although I have
prepared the pattern, the more I look at it the less I love it and as I am
going to spend hours working it but years of looking at it I feel it would
be the wrong pattern for this job.
I looked at Biggins patterns but haven't found anything that 'calls' me, but
in the last month or so I have seen one that looks like torchon, with
diamonds and roseground in it but cant remember where I saw it so cant go
and ask the question. It was worked in white or cream with what looked like
brown maybe sock wool stitched over the outside edges to give the numbers.
Really pretty. What I want is to love a pattern and be able to buy it to
work.
I dont feel capable of making up my own (haven't mastered the design program
to work circular patterns and wonder if anyone knows where I might source
something suitable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a problem Avital and thank you for the information. Yes I have seen
friendships lost in this way but obviously the lace related information is
just fascinating to read. I am a bit slow adjusting to the different type

Sue and everyone else,

Liz the list owner set up the list so that "Reply" alone sends to the
individual. If you want to send to the list as well, use "Reply All". The
reason
she did this is because too many private e-mails were ending up on the
list.
Believe me, it is embarrassing if you think you're writing a private note
to

your best friend and it appears on the list for 300+ people to see (not to
mention being stored permanently in the archives). She felt that the
inconvenience of having e-mails go by accident to an individual was
outweighed

by the advantage of eliminating personal e-mails to the list.

I am sorry to have to do this but I am not sure that my email is making
it
through to the group. When I reply to mail it seems to go to an
individual

not the group.

Thank you Jacquie,
Clear at last:-) I wondered what I was doing wrong. Thank you for your
help.
I am enjoying belonging to the group and reading some very interesting lace
related items from around the world.
Take care Sue T in Dorset UK

  This one made it!

It depends how you receive the posts. If you have individual posts and you
click reply it goes to the originator of the subject - arachne only forwards
it rather than admitting any ownership. If you want to sent to everyone you
have to change the send to box to one of the arachne adresses.

However, if you get it as a digest the opposite applies and reply sends it
back to arachne so you need to copy 'n paste it to get it to the real person
as distinct from it getting caught in the web.

2003-10-17 Thread Annette Gill
I just wanted to say sorry to those who are kind enough to help me with my
various questions if I don't reply for several days. I'm really struggling
these days with RSI, and both typing and lacemaking make it worse. Often it's
not possible to answer email promptly. As a novice, I'm very grateful for all
the help I've received on this list, since I only go to classes every month or
two. In over 10 years on the Net, this is the friendliest, politest, most
helpful, and most erudite discussion forum I've ever taken part in.

I've been given an old copy of some voice recognition software, which would
take away the strain of typing, but I haven't tried setting it up yet. I'm
dreading having to teach it to recognise my speech, especially all the lace
terms I'm likely to use!
