RE: [lace] Pat Earnshaw Lace - Auction

2012-10-10 Thread Annette Meldrum
Dear Jeri and others
I think it is most important and interesting to have this information. As a
lace community these auctions of collections are historically important as
well as of interest even if we are not in a position to bid for items.
I will be examining closely and if not for your announcement would have
missed it.
Thank you for sharing and keeping us informed. We all move in different
circles and together we don't miss much that is happening in the world of
lace. That is why we subscribe.
Please don't stop sharing book reviews and auctions and conservation advice.
We all value it very highly.

Annette in Wollongong, South Coast of NSW, Australia where it is wet and
cold again.

Pat Earnshaw Lace and Textile Collection items are shown under Tab 7.
There are other lace items throughout the on-line catalog.

Are lace auction notices of interest to members of Arachne? If no
feedback, I should stop sharing them.

Dear Jeri,
I think many of us like to understand the other aspects of lace other than
'just' making it. Knowing what the antiques are worth is always interesting.
For me, it's seeing what was made, when. And simply seeing examples of various
laces is an education. I always look at the reports of what is for sale on
Ebay, and sometimes copy it to my computer for later study, including the
identification of lace. This particular offering is especially interesting
because it belonged to Pat Earnshaw. I'm sure many of us are interested in
seeing what she thought was worth having. Thanks so much for the information.
I wouldn't have known otherwise, and that would have been a shame.

leaves have not turned. 66F 17C right before supper. Frost on Friday night.
