Re: [lace] Card for a new baby

2004-05-05 Thread lapalme
Hi Steph,

I use the cradle in Tatting Treats by Pam Palmer. It is fun and fairly quick to
make, and goes very well on a card. I use a dark dull gold, and it looks
scrumptious. I usually keep one on hand, and have given several away. They are
very well received.

In one case, it was a second child, so I used a bobbin lace heart, again quickly
made, from the Anna December 2002 magazine. This particular heart only takes a
couple of hours, and looks very nice on a card. Again, it was very well
received.

One of my friends is having a baby boy, due in about 2 months. I've been
furiously knitting since November. Due to the tastes of the mother to be,
the hanky/bonnet thing is out, but I thought that I could sneak a bit of
lace in for the new baby card. So I'm looking for something to tat, or
something fairly modest in bobbin lace, or dead easy in needle lace.
Nothing too big or difficult so that I have time to borrow a book if
necessary from the UK Lace Guild library, make the lace and the card in less
than 2 months. All suggestions welcome.
