[lace-chat] Fwd: g-mail

2005-03-20 Thread Tamara P Duvall
Gentle Spiders,
I admit I'm not sure what the advantages of having a g-mail account are
(my personal bottleneck is at the ISP, and everything has to go through
*that*) but, when a lacemaking friend asks a favour, especially one
which might prove to be beneficial to many... :)

Subject: g-mail
Hi Tamara –
I wonder if I could use you as a go-between for me and the chat-list
again. It involves g-mail accounts (google mail). They’re enormous
mailboxes – forgotten just how big, but BIG. And they’re free. One
catch – it’s by invitation only.  I have 100 or so invitations at my
disposal, and I was wondering if anyone on chat was wanting a g-mail
account. Could you ask them for me, and ask them to send a request for
an invitation to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] The invitation includes more
info.

I wrote to the moderator about this, and received no reply, so I
assume it is legit to post the offer.

Many thanx!
Rose-Marie H.

It does come from the "salsa" you know - the tomato, onion, usually
also sweet and hot peppers and vinegar - mix, used in cooking, or as a
dip, or in other ways. It's typical of Latin America, as Helen said.
So, pretty soon, the music that was heard around the cafes and bars
frequented by Latinos also began to be called "salsa". Then the term
moved on to the dance style associated with that kind of music... And
that's what's being taught :)

Language and its gyrations is the most fascinating thing, second only
to *general* human behaviour; I still love it more than lace (though
not *much* more )

[lace-chat] The Rooster

2005-03-20 Thread Jennifer Audsley
A blonde calls her boyfriend and says,
"Please come over here and help me.
I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get
started."

Her boyfriend asks,
"What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"
The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.
She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over
the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment,
then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,
"First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be
able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster".

He takes her hand and says
"Secondly, I want you to relax.
Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then. he said with a deep
sigh"

"Let's put all these Corn Flakes back in the box."

now just a dirty blonde colour)

[lace-chat] Newly Single

2005-03-20 Thread H. Muth
Hello all,
I hope that you will forgive me for some maudlin reflections. And to those
to whom I owe letters, hopefully this will explain some of my tardiness
(Tamara). I am recently separated from my husband of 22 years, not by
choice, however, and am adjusting to my new state.

My house has recently been put up for sale and we have a buyer with the
subjects being removed on Tuesday and final move out date May 1st. Please
go to www.randydyck.com and click on Properties, Randy's listings, Houses
and my house is in the third row, right hand side (it's pink), address is
31034, to see a virtual tour of my place, if you are interested. It is a
typical house for this area. Bedroom #3 used to be my craft room with all
my stuff in it, but that is all packed away for now, until I find a new
place for the kids and I.

I thought, perhaps, I'd explain my signature in my letter to lace and let
you, some of whom I have known for years, know what's up in my
life. Although separation is an awful thing, I find that I am getting more
and better sleep now than I have done for some time! Funny how things work
out.

Thanks for listening,
Christine N. - email me.

Re: [lace-chat] Recipe for Corned Beef Water

2005-03-20 Thread Martha Krieg
That recipe sounds an AWFUL lot like my mother's boiled salad
dressing, which I used to just love! She not only put it on salads,
she used it to mix with cold roast beef run through a meat grinder
for sandwich spread.

Dear Friends,
Got this great recipe yesterday from a friend when I phoned her to
see whether there was anything you could do with the water from
boiling Corned Beef. It was her Gt Grandmother's. I made it and it's
lovely

MUSTARD SAUCE for Corned Beef.
In a bowl place:
- 1 dessertspoon mustard powder (I used half Dijon and half Hot English)
- 1.5 dessertspoons corn flour
- 3 dessertspoons sugar
- Now beat in 1 egg
- add 0.5 cups vinegar
- add 0.75 cups water from Corned Beef
Stir while heating till thickens.
Do NOT allow to boil or it will curdle

Re: [lace-chat] Salsa

2005-03-20 Thread Helen
Umm, it's a type of Latin American dance which is incredibly popular over
here. As I lack all co-ordination, I've never tried it although everyone
tells me that it's great fun.

[lace-chat] Electrical stores in Brisbane

2005-03-20 Thread Jean Peach
I am wondering if anyone in Australia can help me. My DIL is going to
Brisbane shortly, the rest of the family will stay near Surfers Paradise.

My Number 3 grandson wants to use a No 1 play station, unfortunately a lead
was lost in the move to Australia, does anyone have an idea a store where
another lead can be bought. My family live in a small country town which
does not have a store that can help them.

Your help would be much appreciated as grandson number 2 has just phoned us
to ask for our help.

Jean
