As I do a fair amount of cooking ("from scratch"), my own "barf factor" gets triggered by "fresh frozen" (in the fish dept) :) I get -- regularly -- upset by the "express" lanes at the check-outs ("15 items or *less*"), but I concede that "fewer" takes up more space and, to many people, the difference might be on a par with the "r" and "l" in Chinese :) The one that bugs me is the radio travel reports where they refer to roadworks causing a dual carriageway to be "one lane in both directions" when what they really mean is "one lane in each direction". A single lane of traffic trying to flow in both directions really would be chaos!.. Add to that their comments about "hold-ups on the north bound A2". The A2 London-Dover road runs east/west. As for the free gifts, what about the one-in-a-billion chance of finding the winning ticket inside a sealed package which says "no purchase necessary". How do you know if you've won if you don't purchase the item? One would hope that all the American lacers would get it, I think all my American connections help, otherwise I wouldn't have a clue. And with Noelene's hint, I even figured out hers. Does this mean my brain is improving or I just have too much time on my hands. Lynn Scott, Wollongong, Australia, where it is still so hot and humid I had the air conditioning on at 6AM, I can't even believe I was up that early.
