Re: [Languagetool] vote about logo proposals

2012-10-06 Thread gulp21

I am thinking a new website design to go with the new logo. It looks bad
to use that blue and that orange together. […]

Doesn't have to be fancy...I just think a new design would go better
 with the new logo.

I agree with you.

So should I replace the current button with the css version, keeping the
current colours? When there is a pure css version on the website, it is
easier to test how different colours look like.

Re: [Languagetool] vote about logo proposals

2012-10-05 Thread gulp21
I know it's still on the download buttons on our homepage, but
I will fix that tomorrow or so unless someone beats me to it.

In my opinion, the blue squiggle does not look that nice on the yellow
background. Here[1] you can see how it looks like with a blue
background. That download button is also done in pure css, which has the
advantage that the button can grow with the text. It works perfectly in
the latest versions of all major browsers (including IE10) and looks OK
in IE8 and IE9.

And I think that images/squiggle.png should be changed from angular to
rounded squiggle in order to match the logo, shouldn't it?

Markus

Blue on blue looks like a bad idea to me. Personally, I like the colors,
but there are many people out there who won't be able to see the
squiggles, due to impaired color vision. Does the orange/blue version
really look that bad to everybody? Just asking. Never mind me. --Jan

The problem with this one is that these icons combined in this way look a

I think variant 1, 3 and 5.2 expresses what LanguateTool is with the

Maybe combined with 2, which the advantage of already shoming an

Having an underline under languagetool suggests that the name is wrong.
That is not intended of course.

7 shows the multi-lingual aspect quite well, but not the advice
functionality.

By the way, they all are colorfull and bright. Good.

It is a tough job to express the amount of functionality in so little space.

 Hi,

I'm glad to announce that we have three very nice proposals for a new
 LanguageTool logo!

 See them at
 http://www.danielnaber.de/tmp/lt-logo-proposals.png

Note: please do not spread or use these logos yet: as long as we haven't
made a decision they are copyright by the designer, Luis Tescaroli. The
background is a watermark and not part of the logos.

I suggest we make a vote about the new logo the way Apache does it:
everybody can vote, but only votes from committers are binding. Please
reply publicly to this mail and add +1 to your preferred logo:

 proposal #1
 proposal #2A

+1 as we don't have Arabic, which is suggested by #2B

anyway, I agree with comments that it looks like a logo for a
translation tool

regards,
Marcin

 proposal #2B

 Regards
   Daniel

Proposal #1 reminds me of a map api. Proposal #2B is a bit overcrowded,

Nathan that it looks more like a logo for a translation tool. At the
moment, I still prefer the current logo, which shows that LT finds and
marks something which is wrong.

Hello

How dos the logos look like as a squarer?

I also work on another extension, and have learned that we most often need
logos in 32x32, 42x42, 64x64 and 75x75.

You're right. As the designer's time is limited, we first have to decide on
a large logo (will be used for the homepage) and we will then get one in
square format.
