I think that all over the history development of open source products that are collapse to Borland, Borland always choose not to give any type of support for the development etc.. and sometimes they are too quite with their reactions... With free-vision there where also some legal issues as well... But that's another discussion.. > > [ Forwarded email ]--- > > > > Could somebody please tell me if I am allowed to use those as public > > > domain in Open Source projects? > > You're not allowed to distribute *any* of the source files. > > -- > > Graeme Geldenhuys wrote: > > > > I would like an official reference please. > > For CodeGear RAD Studio, Section 3 of license.rtf. To ALL developers, I got confirmation from Dave Nottage on the borland non-technical newsgroup that ALL source code included in Delphi are copyright material, including the sample units. Only files mentioned in the deploy text file as redistributable are allowed. The reason I ask, is because I got the same issue as you did two days ago. I got a code contribution which is a near exact copy of the gauge.pas unit and don't want to study it to hard or commit it to the fpGUI repository until I know the legal issues with using those Sample units. Regards, - Graeme - FWIW, of the components in the Samples directory of Delphi 4 (the one I have at hand), colorgrid.pas has a Copyright notice, and so do ibctrls.pas, ibevnts.pas ibproc32.pas, while the other units (i.e. calendar.pas, diroutln.pas, gauges.pas ibconst.pas and spin.pas) do not. As far as gauges.pas is concerned, if I remember well, they should be ashamed of coypyrighting it, because they didn't even bother to test it: as it was it didn't work, because of some error I don't remember.
