Re: [Leaf-devel] Announcing leaf-project.org site name.

2002-02-26 Thread Mike Sensney

Why do LEAF files need/have to be stored at SF? We could use Ibiblio for a
file repository. They allow ftp access and recently they added another
terabyte of storage. They also have excellent bandwidth. At least downloads

from there seem to be faster than from SF.

I just got back from Seattle and am now catching up with my mail. I
apologize for not commenting on the new domain earlier since I started this

thread in the first place but I don't have easy access to mail while on the

road.

The good news is I just got a new job that I pleased with. :-) The bad news

is I have to move wife and home 200 miles to Seattle. I like Seattle so
that
is a plus. But I _really_ hate moving...

Matt,
We have no ftp access anymore. SF removed ftp directories on the project
shell server a while ago, and last month they disabled ftp access to the
dl.sf.net mirrors.

 Steven,

I would just like to thank-you!
Not too many people would do something like that.

Steven,
Thank you for doing this. Our project is indebted to you.

After the concern's expressed over Source Forge's changing Term's of
Service (I think they have done a good job and hope we will continue to
support them and this grand experiment of theirs) this way we at least
have a project Domain Name should worse come to worse and we have to
find a new virtual home. I paid for the name for two years. For the
time being, any changes to the name will be through Mike Noyes' already
working system of consensus building on the list and I shall rely on

It would be nice if we were able to acquire the leaf.org domain. It's

this suggestion is not necessary (i.e. don't pay Lee for a transfer).

But that's getting complicated because it becomes a pain to decide

In talking to Mike, I recalled that I looked into several leaf.zzz varients when the
project first switched, but they were all taken. leaf.org apears to be the most
active and a personal site. Leaf.com doesn't appear to have changed in a year or two
but claims to be a business of some sort leaf.net appears to be speedy.net now.
leaf.net will expire in June, so I will keep an eye on that for now, but in the

download.leaf-project.org
dl.leaf-project.org

takes you somewhere...hmmm.

I believe Mike N is opening a request with SF to set the vhost on the sourceforge site
to direct appropriatly. Can't redirect to sub directories with DNS :(

[Leaf-devel] Announcing leaf-project.org site name.

2002-02-24 Thread Steven Peck

Well folks,

After Mike Sensney's suggestion and talking to Mike Noyes and Charles I
decided to get the domain name leaf-project.org.

Currently live are
leaf-project.org - leaf.sourceforge.net
www.leaf-project.org - leaf.sourceforge.net
cvs.leaf-project.org - cvs.sourceforge.net
(not sure if this is pointed correctly yet)

download.leaf-project.org - download.sourceforge.net
dl.leaf-project.org - download.sourceforge.net
This really needs to point to download.sourceforge.net\leaf but I can't
point the DNS at subdirectories. I'll work with Mike Noyes on this.

After the concern's expressed over Source Forge's changing Term's of
Service (I think they have done a good job and hope we will continue to
support them and this grand experiment of theirs) this way we at least
have a project Domain Name should worse come to worse and we have to

ask.
