Hmm... Strange, it was in my syslinux.cfg, and I didn't do it myself.
Anyway, when I run ps I see pump -i eth0 running, but when I try to
ping either google or my proxy, I get nothing. I don't know yet if I
don't get an IP, or if the problem lies with contacting the DNS.
How can I check if I've been granted an IP address? Ifconfig doesn't
seem to be part of the LEAF distro, and I don't know what else checks
it.

Um.

Okay, color me stupid.

For some reason, I mixed up pump and DHCPd for some reason. DHCPd is
not loaded in there by default, but is on the disk.

Sorry for confusing you...

Thats a good idea. I will have to set this in sshd_config,
I already did some search ;-).

MAC addresses would only help if your on the same subnet as the router.
I learned that some years ago, but forgot it -- until I tried
it some days ago ;-)
Thanks !

thanks for all your replies to this topic, especially to Mohan. I will

I will report our decisions when the job is done, thanks a lot !

[leaf-user] named service on leaf bering Uclibc 1.2

2003-08-04 Thread Charles Holbrook
I am currently weighing my options as to what software to use as a
primary name server on my ... name server. Right now it's down to
either maradns or bind 8.2.3. With the exception of there being a
couple known bugs in bind 8.2.3 I see nothing between the two pieces of
software that puts one ahead of the other. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

RE: [leaf-user] DHCP client

2003-08-04 Thread M Lu
Or you can do

pump -s

it will tell you more details about the DHCP status of your router. Try to
ping IP instead of names first as you may need to specify the DNS. Your ISP
DNSes will be listed in the output of the above command.

[leaf-user] Do I need to adjust my MTU?

2003-08-04 Thread John Desmond
I just noticed (I've been using LEAF for a couple of
years now) that the MTU for eth0 and eth1 is set at
1500 but the MTU for ppp0 is 1492. I'm told that's to
make room for an 8-byte pppoe header.

Is there any efficiency gain to matching the ethx MTUs
to the ppp0 MTU?
