[leaf-user] ksoftirqd_CPU0 extreme CPU usage

2005-05-10 Thread Jaime Nebrera
  Hi all,

We are experiencing severe CPU usage in a Leaf based system. Using top
we see ksoftirqd_CPU0 is using a lot of CPU (around 50%). The CPU as a
global is at 95%, Any clue what this process is for? Is it possible to
disable it?

Searching in google I have found there was a bug in the kernel. Do you
know since what version has this bug been solved in standard kernel?
Also, I have seen its possible to disable HIL in the kernel as its a
headless system.

Please, its quite urgent. As always, VERY thankful in advance.

BTW, the box is a Via Eden 1Ghz with 256MB RAM

  Regards

Re: [leaf-user] Old NIC drivers

 Dear list,
what happened to older NIC drivers like rtl8139.o, pci-scan.o ?

They has been removed in the base image to give place for more recent
NIC's.

Some really old Realtek-based network cards worked well loading
mii, pci-scan and rtl8139, but refuse to work with 8139too.o.
I couldn't find any docs for the 2.4.26 modules.

Just download the modules tarball for your kernel version from FRS,
extract, copy the modules you need to /lib/modules add
to /etc/modules - save modules.lrp and restart.

For more help we need to know what LEAF version you use and what media
you boot from.

[leaf-user] Startup errors: libm.so.0 and ipsec_setup

2005-05-10 Thread Calvin Webster
Can anyone tell me what these errors could mean?

awk: can't load library 'libm.so.0'
awk: can't load library 'libm.so.0'
ipsec setup: must be called by ipsec_setup

They come up every time I boot.

RE: [leaf-user] Startup errors: libm.so.0 and ipsec_setup

2005-05-10 Thread Tibbs, Richard
Are you loading libz and libnsl.lrp? Those in addition to ipsec,
libcrypt and mawk are all that I load.
Rick.
