[leaf-user] Basic Port Forwarding How-To
Heylo, I've asked this before, but it still doesn't work. I'm using the most basic configuration of dachstein 1680KB floppy, with minimal changed. How and what should i change so that i can run an ftp server on a machine with ip address: 192.168.1.200 with a port of 80. also i need an explanation of protocols i.e. TCP and UDP, and the ability to access this server from within the network. I'm not really a newbie with LRP, but this is my first port-forward so be gentle please! --- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf leaf-user mailing list: [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/leaf-user SR FAQ: http://leaf-project.org/pub/doc/docmanager/docid_1891.html
[leaf-user] Hard drive switch off
Hello, i'm considering installing a hard drive into my LRP box running dachstein, however, is there a way to COMPLETELY switch the hard drive off after LRP is loaded into the RAM? I haven't installed the hard drive yet because i don't want the noise. Is there a way? [Leaf-user] Hardware router Linux look-alike
Does anyone know how _HARD_ it would be to create an interface like so many commerically available hardware routers on the market? What I mean are those web-based port-forwarding, port opening, cgi script interfaces. Because if someone (or I if i learned about what i need to do to make it happen) could implement it, it would certainly make life a hell of allot easier, and it would take away many of the constantly repeated requests for help on the leaf-user-request maillist. Just a thought! p.s. Get back to me quick! I'm in the mood to start to learn cgi programming! HURRY ___ Leaf-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/leaf-user

[Leaf-user] Australian Telstra ISP Woes
Hi, I'm trying to get my friend connected via a dachstein firewall, problem is, he's with Telstra Big Pond (or big drip as we like to call them) (Telstra is Optus@home's main competition). Anyway, Big Pond Advance, from now on refferred to as "BPA", optains it's ip address using a logon program. The source for this program is at: http://bpalogin.sourceforge.net but, how do i create an *.lrp out of it? does anyone have any experience in this field? This would be much appreciated and would like to refer many people to Dachstein after jumping this hurdle. Many thanks in advance, ----- Stewart Adey -- Melbourne, Australia -- Studying Mechatronics Eng. -

... i'll be sending back once if figured out how to port forward.. - Original Message - From: Steve Jeppesen [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Stewart Adey [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Leaf-User [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 4:03 PM Subject: RE: [Leaf-user] ISP e-mail access help *desperate* No problem at all! At first I was thinking this was too simple of a question to be asked here. BTW, myself, I use the IP numbers in those SMTP and pop address fields. Some people would disagree with this (incase your ISP changes them) but it does take a milli second off the time it takes to send/receive email. Glad to be of some help. My turn to give some instead of always asking! If that is the case then simply just add those SMTP and pop addresses into your Windows client email programs, and they will be able to send and receive email. Nothing is needed to be configured in your Dachstein server in order for your Windows computer/client email to work. Same thing goes for any newsgroup program you are using, just add the news server address to your favorite news reader program and it works. Again, sorry if I am not on the right track. Here it is in depth and clarity: I'm in Australia using Optus@Home cable service. (DHCP) Their Mail server is mail (mail-optushome.optusnet.com.au) or 203.2.75.209 Their News server is news (news-vip.optusnet.com.au) or 210.49.20.254 I understand that: SMTP runs on port 25/tcp POP-3 runs on port 110/tcp/udp NNTP runs on port 119/tcp. I'm running Dachstein 4.0.6 as router/firewall and i have windows clients. I need to be able to access my isp's e-mail server from one of the internal computers.
