[LU] Improvement
Although there's no doubt that last season was much better in many ways than many years before it, there were still a number of infuriating things about it; and one of those things was our performances after international breaks. As ever, the break would drag on and on, but all the time I would be thinking "OK, so we've got this shit-hot coach now in Garry Monk..everything was a bit rushed in pre-season, but now he's got 2 whole weeks to work his magic on these lads..we've only actually got 3 or 4 players awayhe's always banging on about the group and the project and it taking time.well now he's got time." Result? 4 international breaks..4 post i-b games..points zero...goals scored zero. And this season? Well.. ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org FLAME WARS 'R US
[LU] What a weekend!
Not only were the current players scoring for fun on satdy...ex-players were banging 'em in all over t'country! I haven't seen all the scorers by any means, but I did notice Wood, Antonsson, Poleon, even Kilgallon all scoring. Bradley Johnson I believe notched a brace on Friday night. If you're smart, I'd put a bob on Sam Byram to score tonight! ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org FLAME WARS 'R US

[LU] penalty yesterday
Just watchig the 12 minute highlights on LUTV (I really cannot get enough of Burton game) and have found out what a part Pontus played in the penalty decision We had a corner by Hernandez that Pontus headed just wide - but he was having his shirt pulled - it was quite obvious but the ref missed it (as they tend to do)- Pontus without screaming, shouting or getting into the referees face, pointed out the fact that they were tugging at his shirt A couple of minutes later, another Hernandez corner, this time Lasogga was having his shirt pulled but this time the ref noticed it and gave us a the penalty. Of course he may have spotted it anyway and given the pen but I do think Pontus bringing it to his attention and in a decent manner must have helped him make that decision Another thing that has been good, yesterday in particular but all season really, is the fact that we do not seem to have many bookings - no-one was booked yesterday - and Pontus who was booked a lot last season and got 3(?) bans, has so far not picked up a single one. Clearly players like him are going to get booked just for the way the game is now and the fact they make tackles, so it is great to see him, and the team as a whole, cut out the silly stuff Dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org FLAME WARS 'R US

It's amazing what a performance like this can do to one's mood. Makes me want to get on a plane and turn up on Tuesday, with my dad and have a few pints of Leeds Pale. I'll have to make do with the live stream and some Australian red. We're going up as fucking champions! MOT Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Loving it Rich - I think over the years you have been more critical of the players and less optimistic than I have been - but we are certainly 100% in agreement with this current team. It really is that good. As you said 1989 will never be repeated - off the pitch it was a different time (not to everyone liking but I loved it) and on the pitch we were rough and ready with some decent performances (the title winning year under Wilko even more so - the 4 1 at Villa when we knew we were genuine contenders and the 6 1 at Wednesday ) but this is just different class I have fallen out of love with football - did so a few years ago- and no longer watch any on TV (I almost force myself to watch England on TV now I no longer go but that is it) but yesterday was so good that I would even have enjoyed it if it had not been Leeds I have just watched the goals (4 times so far including in slow motion) on Ch5 and each one is amazing in its own right, apart from the penalty which was soft but a definate penalty and well scored. They said that we have now had 10 different scorers this season, with hat tricks (albeit in the LC) from Siaz and Roofe, 2 on debut by Lasogga, and 3 in total for the non scoring Phillips. That is such a change from last season when it was the number 9 who scored or no-one. Saiz is just different class - just look at the hightlight on CH5 - his passing is amazing - see the ball to Lasogga when he hit the post, the outside of the boot flick to Roofe for number 4 and the chip whislt stood still to Roofe for our 5th - pure magic To do all this without the lad most of us think is our best midfielder (Vieira) and the player who has had pundits raving so far (Alioski) is nothing short of amazing. As Rich says we have real strength in depth - with good cover for every position. Full marks to TC for doing something none of us expected - we all thought it would be Roofe or more likely Lasogga up top with the other on the bench - but no, he rested Alioski after he played two games during the break, and kept the red hot in form Roofe on the pitch and got a great performance out of him.He also left Vieira out who also played in the week. He then got it right bringing off both Anita and O'Kane when the game was won, since both are suffering with slight injuries, injuries that need rest. I am champing at the bit to get back to ER on Tuesday for more of the same (hoping for it rather than expecting / demanding it) and wondering what team TC will pick - assuming everyone is fit and available (Lasogga baby situation) - surely he has to start with the same team but then that is unfair on Alioski. Or does he bring Alioski back and maybe rest Hernandez ? Bloody hell! The results have been amazing so far, and (unlike often last season) the performances have been as good if not better, as far as I can glean from 10,000 miles away. And if even the professional miserabilist is throwing around 10s like confetti, something must really be happening at Elland Road! They're all slightly unpredictable (in the case of Hernandes very unpredictable) and are all considered to be the same sort of player. To have them all in the team and all playing at the top of their game and working together is almost genius from the manager. then you throw in Luke Ayling as an attacking right back who gives Mel Sterland (the Flying Pig) a run for his money, and Lassoga who is a big unit who can move fast and get into good position. His performance first half was better than Wood offered in any of his 30 goal season games last season, and Lasogga ain't match fit. This guy looks the business. At the back, Vurn played well at left back and even he was turning into a left winger at times. The back two were untroubled and Pontus even treated us in the family stand to some tricks which really took the piss out of the Burton player. What a star that bloke is. The goals were all good but I loved Lasogga first - powerfully bursting on to the ball and smashing it in with his left foot. Hernandes took his penalty well and Philips got his 3rd this season with a nice curling left foot effort. 2nd effort we continued to dominate but the 3 subs (Lasogga, Anita and O'Kane) did disrupt our game and although we were never troubled we didn't have the same slick style although Siaz treated us to some skills late on. When I heard the team news walking to the ground that Allioski had been dropped and Roofe will play on the wing I thought it would be TC's first balls up team selection. Again TC got it right, Roofe is on fire and he looks like a different player now he's got the goals under his belt. He looked stronger, quicker, fitter, taller and he really took his goal well. He was up against Warnock who looked f*cked but if he continues like this he is another player that could prove me wrong. Lasogga - 10 . Perfect debut and there won't be many teams in this division with a player like this. The only criticism you could level is that he di

It was wonderful to behold - first match I've watched on our new fangled international streaming service. Almost unfair to pick out any individual player, but special mention to O'Kane - he absolutely ran the match whilst he was on. Great that we've got almost all this bunch tied up to long term deals too - the future is shining bright white. As good as the team performance was, it also says something that Alioski never got on the pitch and Pennington, Berardi, CBJ and Vieira weren't even in the 18 - we have both the team and the squad to go the distance this year. ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org FLAME WARS 'R US
