So Haigh and his attempted take over with Sports Capital has been withdrawn,
That leaves us with a skint GFH who want to get out, a very dodgy Italian who
may not even pass the fit and proper test, and another consortium with a ex Man
U director or whatever

Things look bleak indeed

2011-08-06 Thread Alec McQueen
OK, poor first game away, the next game is going to be very telling. Boro at
home.

Who is right? The "It's OK, we have a good squad, we don't need anybody
else" brigade, or the "WTF is going on" brigade. I sit squarely in the
latter camp. I cannot believe we have seen so few signings. Complete lack of
ambition.

We need a win next Saturday or the latter brigade have got to be close to
being right.

It is clear the defence is currently not good enough. SG has to put his
faith is Kisnorbo and Lees. If that fails, we need some investment.

Better performance, but another loss.

The "Let's wait and see" brigade have been proved wrong. The evidence is
clear. Our lack of squad development has cost us dear and we are in for a
season of struggle, mid-table at best, relegation a distinct possibility.

BATES OUT is a fine catchcry, but WHO IN? Anybody got a few millions to

So now we will get Cellini, he'll sack McD and bring in his muppet who will
insist on playing his cousin or something and we'll go plummeting down the
league, will get relegated, will go into administration and get deducted 20
points this time and will wallow mid table in league 1 for the next four years.

Another in the long list of shambles in our ever evolving and depressing
history. Twas me who said any takeover would happen after transfer deadline -
am amazed we haven't 'lost' any of our first XI - still time today eh?
Presumably GFH will need operating capital, so it wouldn't surprise me to see
them launching a flash sale this afternoon!

We're in the crap position of being too big to be bought out by any local
businessman, but too many skeletons for any serious investor to touch. Maybe
assets such as the training ground need to be given up, so it just becomes a
matter of football club and players. I have no idea who owns the ground either,
but as long as we can rent it then again, to attract investment it might be
time to ditch all the agreements about buy-back etc. There's no way it's ever
going to happen, unless the council buys it back again, or a supporters trust,
which again I think is unlikely.

Bugger!

We had no midfield so then the defence started hoofing it past midfield to
attacker. only problem
with that is that our lone attacker was a dwarf and he never won a single
ball. So in fact we never had
the ball, its hard to win a game then.

The other problem is Kisnorbo. Hes responsible for goal 2 and 3. On goal 2
he was behind that guy
that released the goalscore. however he let him turn and pass the ball
without challenge!! school
boy error. Which leads me to goal 3. Once again hes close to goal scorer,
but allows him to run
off and get the ball without following him/or handing him over to someone
else. scorer gets first
to the ball, by that time 2 LUFC are trying to get to it, too late. he gets
the ball, flicks it to his
mate, gets a good pass back and scores easily.

I was sat in the Soton end with a Soton mate so didnt get a good view of the
1st goal.
what a fucking nightmare to be at that end today..

oh yeah, the ref. what a JOKE!!! may I ask in all seriousness, do refs. get
paid much? are they professionals?

Re: [LU] Where now?

2011-08-07 Thread Mark Humphries
I couldn't bring myself to watch it all, but the bits I did watch we seemed
to have decent possession but no cutting edge/final delivery. McCormack is
good, but he cant play the lone striker and score goals. Soton were
quick/good on the break, their defence were big and no-nonsense, which was a
problem when we have a short arse alone up front. Their forwards looked
confident and composed, all 3 of their goals were great finishes - at this
level you might concede 1 of those every 5 matches, 3 in one match was
freakish.

Just before their goal Howson had a snap shot which they were lucky with,
had we gone ahead the match might have been very different.

I also liked what I saw of o'dea, at least he seems to give a shit unlike
parker, for example.

So, despite the scoreline, and from the little I watched, I thought this was
a match of fine margins - had Becchio or Somma been available it would have
probably been a different match. Had Snodgrass turned up it would have been
a different match. Had we played as a team it would have been a different
match. Had we played Soton in 4 weeks time it would have been a different
match (its always bad playing newly promoted sides at the start of the
season).

Shit result, but we'll be ok when Snodgrass starts playing, when becchio is
back and/or if this german trialist turns out to be as good as the reserve
hattrick might suggest. I also think we need Mendy to pressure Snodgrass
into performances.

Nunez looked lively when he came on, but I think he will be more of a home
player than away.

Paynter looks total shite, I can only hope he fluffs one off his ample arse
and that gives him some confidence and transforms him into a professional
footballer, nothing I have seen of him to date makes me think that will
happen.

Oh well - back to the rollercoaster ride that is supporting Leeds.

I find it a tad confusing that we are spent a fortune renovating a property
we don't own.

Similarly, I find it confusing that we are spending another fortune building

Anyone else share my confusion?

Of course, if said property turned out to be owned by our owner and the
