Re: dyna-glide
Hello Bill (and everyone.) http://dynaglideplus.com/tool/ I sent a message to Dynaglide the company its self.We will see what comes of it. Hopefully this new hand pump version can be shipped to you? Don't use WD40 ! I use Johnson and Johnson paste (floor) wax on most of my woodworking tools, Yes takes more time, with the wiping on and off, but it works well. I know that Mike Pung has said on his wood chuck (steel rails) he uses paraffin block (or canning) wax. again its more work than using Dyna-Glide but both compounds are 100x better than using WD. I have a friend who used Pam. cooking spray (oil) on his machines and says that he likes it.and for the cost it is by far the cheapes idea that Ive heard,.Everyone Grocery store sell Pam.and it only cost $3.00 per can ! (I have not tried it yet for my self.but it too would be better than using WD in my book) Hopefully we will find you a new source of Dyna-Glide for you Also. I am still playing around with some home maid brews using liquid Paraffin (mineral oil mainly) with different dryers added, so far I've had some luck but ... Hopefully Dyna-Glide company will respond to this message? Good luck. And have a Great day. Re: dyna-glide
Hello all,I'd like to add another possible "remedy" to your Dynaglide quandry. I own a "Little Giant" ladder system. In their maintenance instructions they recommend you spray various parts of the ladder with Endust furniture polish. Check this link: http://www.littlegiantladder.com/instructional-videos.html (Video is second up from bottom on the right side) I have used the Endust as they describe - and it works REALLY well; I am confident you will find it to be an acceptable substitute. A side benefit: Your wife may think you are actually cleaning up in the shop - just don't let her use it all up in the rest of the home. Here is a solution to the conundrum Tim. Refillable paint cans http://www.woodturningvideosplus.com/spray-finishing.html If you go to an Auto paint store you will be able to color match enamel and acrylic. Re: Touch Up Paint
I went to Napa (chain store) last year to buy paint to repair a spot on the car. They loaded the paint in a spray can. It worked wonderfully! Re: A 500 that has aluminum rather than steel rails for sale on Ebay for too much
Hi All, The owner added some more photos. It's really close to the 600 that you bought Begat. Red Legs. I still can't see the method of elevation but I'm assuming it's plates on the front and back of the carriage just like the 600. I'd give it a $500 value as is. If I saw it at a garage sale, I'd say $250. Although that machine has plastic gears, they are 1/4 and that makes them pretty durable and they are quite in operation. They use to say tapering is possible by milling from the side. I find that technique takes skill and practice to perfect. -Tim -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Legacy Ornamental Mills group. Re: A 500 that has aluminum rather than steel rails for sale on Ebay for too much
Tim, Yes, that looks just like the 600, including the square stops and 1/4 plastic gears. I paid $600 but got $300 in magnate bits, though I didn't get a router. Well, we will just have to wait to see what the market says about $1750. Begat On Fri, Nov 30, 2012 at 7:15 PM, Tim Krause artmarb...@comcast.net wrote: ** Hi All, The owner added some more photos. Legacy manual machines
I have had occassion to correspond by email and discuss by telephone the status of Legacy Ornamental Mills 900, 1200, etc. The reason for my inquiry was that the mobility kit, i.e., the 5 inch casters, on my 900 were losing sections of their tread and I wanted replacements. My initial inquiries went unanswered, and so I found adequate repalcements from Woodcraft in the form of 3 inch casters. However, this inquiry seemed to get my name in Legacy's database as someone interested in their CNC machines. I explained to John in sales that I am retired in my 70s and although I at one time designed computers and find CNC machines quite interesting, I can make enough sawdust with my manual machines in my shop. What I really wanted to know was whether we, as owners of their manual machines, had been orphaned and could not look to Legacy for support in the form of replacement parts and accessories. What I was told was that as a result of the 2007 recession, a number of Legacy's suppliers had gone out of business. That was the reason I could not get replacement casters. I was also told that their supplier for the custom aluminum extrusions had gone out of business, which was the reason that they were no longer making manual machines. However, I was also told that Legacy was re- engineering their manual machines, and John implied that there would be an announcement in the near future to that effect. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Legacy Ornamental Mills group.
