Re: Legacy manual machines
Hi Legacy website has a page with 900 and 1200 prices for today. How it's corresponding with they were no longer making manual machines? My friend here in Ukraine want to buy Legacy 900. What I have to answer him? Arkady. On 30 ноя, 15:22, cwhitha...@comcast.net cwhitha...@comcast.net wrote: I have had occassion to correspond by email and discuss by telephone the status of Legacy Ornamental Mills 900, 1200, etc. The reason for my inquiry was that the mobility kit, i.e., the 5 inch casters, on my 900 were losing sections of their tread and I wanted replacements. My initial inquiries went unanswered, and so I found adequate repalcements from Woodcraft in the form of 3 inch casters. However, this inquiry seemed to get my name in Legacy's database as someone interested in their CNC machines. I explained to John in sales that I am retired in my 70s and although I at one time designed computers and find CNC machines quite interesting, I can make enough sawdust with my manual machines in my shop. What I really wanted to know was whether we, as owners of their manual machines, had been orphaned and could not look to Legacy for support in the form of replacement parts and accessories. What I was told was that as a result of the 2007 recession, a number of Legacy's suppliers had gone out of business. That was the reason I could not get replacement casters. I was also told that their supplier for the custom aluminum extrusions had gone out of business, which was the reason that they were no longer making manual machines. However, I was also told that Legacy was re- engineering their manual machines, and John implied that there would be an announcement in the near future to that effect. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Legacy Ornamental Mills group. Re: Legacy manual machines
Hello, The information about the lack of parts and the end of the line for the 900 and 1200 are true. Legacy really needs to update the manual machine website. I am sure you are not alone in thinking the manual machines are available. It is also true that they are designing new ones, and perhaps the site should also say that. Re: Legacy manual machines
Hello My best advice it to call Legacy and talk to Tracy or Andy. If there web site still offers the manual machines, perhaps they still have a few in reserve? Just because they are not making them, dose not necessarily mean that they do not have any for sale. But as far as I see it, that's there call to make. If you are in Europe Why not call Roger He is closer to you and perhaps he can help? http://www.woodworkersworkshop.co.uk/ this is his web site. Re: Legacy manual machines
The last official word that I heard was Andy was satisfied with the current second hand market filling the needs of buying a model 900/1200/1800. If you want one of those models you will have to make arrangements with a previous owner to buy theirs. Legacy still carries a limited amount of accessories and the parts such as the split nuts, bushings and bearings however there may be a long waiting period (months) to receive them. This was second hand information, but I do believe it's reliable. I really hope the manual machine web site does not get completely blown out with the arrival of the new machine. The loss of the tutorials and techniques would be devastating. There are a lot of users out there that use their machine once every other year and forget how to do things. Those videos are important lessons. I have made several offers to store the information on my server is they ever decide to do this. It is my hope that they will take me up on this offer when the time comes. -Tim - Original Message - From: curt george To: legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com Sent: Saturday, December 01, 2012 4:02 AM Subject: Re: Legacy manual machines Hello My best advice it to call Legacy and talk to Tracy or Andy. It is also true that they are designing new ones, and perhaps the site should also say that. Begat On Sat, Dec 1, 2012 at 3:55 AM, Arkady Paka arkadyp...@gmail.com wrote: Hi.
Tim,Many thanks to you and others who continue to communicate with the LOM "Mothership" Captain crew on our behalf - stressing the importance of Legacy continuing to "support" (in ANY way they can/will) their "legacy" manual machines. This VALUABLE support includes accessories, parts, documents/charts/etc., and videos - ANY and all are Greatly appreciated.Thank you from all of us!Macon -Original Message- From: Tim KrauseSent: Dec 1, 2012 3:30 PM To: legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Legacy manual machines The last official word that I heard was Andy was satisfied with the current second hand market filling the needs of buying a model 900/1200/1800. If you want one of those modelsyou will have tomake arrangements with a previous owner to buy theirs. Legacy still carries a limited amount ofaccessories and the parts such as the split nuts, bushings and bearings however there may be a long waiting period (months) to receive them. This was second hand information, but I do believe it's reliable. I really hope the manual machine web site does not get completely blown out with the arrival of the new machine. The loss of the tutorials and techniques would be devastating.
