Re: Legacy Mill Parts - part 2

2021-05-03 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
 Thank you for the up-date.
I agree with you about the shipping being a PAIN!  But I am glad that you
helped out so many of our group with your sale.Who knows perhaps someday we can
compare our lists of left over parts, to make another Legacy. ;-p
Thanks again Tracy .
Have a good night.

 Hello all,

Over two years ago I was using my mill to do a lot of work with
redwood.. I had a ton of chips and sawdust. I just couldn't throw it all
away so I bagged it up and stored it away.

I used some of it for mulch in a couple grow boxes I have. A few weeks
after I put it in the box, the color changed to a beautiful blood red. The
strawberry plants and raspberry plants grew up around the redwood mulch. It
 was unplanned but surprisingly beautiful.

We are just getting ready to plant some stuff in our grow boxes and I
broke out a few of the bags of the redwood chips and put it on the top of a
couple boxes. I've attached a couple pictures.

Hopefully, in a few weeks, I'll post a follow up with some cool
pictures to show how the color has changed.

Anyway, not really any tips about using the LOM but the chips came
directly from using the LOM :).

Tim,

When I was in my early 20s, I worked in a restaurant that specializes in

Thanks for the suggestions around how to use the chips in a project.

Bill, that plant on the other side of the fence, I believe, is a
rhubarb plant. My back neighbor is a big time gardner. I'm not a fan of

Ornamental Mill and shaper in Iowa

1. I have a legacy ornamental mill for sale in Nashua Iowa. It will do all
the twists and fluting on any kind of table or poster bed leg I can't begin to
tell you what all it will do. I have many of the optional gearing, Has a lot of
the leg mounting hardware so legs can be swopped for repeat operations. If
interested you will have to do some research for your self. Asking $650 for it
without the router. $800 if the 3 1/2 HP porter Cable plunge router is
included. I would prefer pick up but delivery is an option that can be
discussed.

RE: Kind of LOM related

2021-05-03 Thread Michael Kratky
Tracy in addition redwood is naturally insect and rot resistant, the problem I
have here is the chipmunks grab the strawberries about the time they ripen or
worse they go from berry to berry taking just a bite of each. Then there’s the
blue jays cleaning out my blueberries or the raccoons eating my concord grapes
not to mention the black bears and deer getting everything else.

Perhaps I could rig up a silhouette operating the LOM 1200 that I don’t use set
up outside to scare them off so I don’t have to keep explaining to my wife “why
you’d buy that thing”?

Hello all,

Over two years ago I was using my mill to do a lot of work with redwood.. I had
a ton of chips and sawdust. I just couldn't throw it all away so I bagged it up
and stored it away.

I used some of it for mulch in a couple grow boxes I have. A few weeks after I
put it in the box, the color changed to a beautiful blood red. The strawberry
plants and raspberry plants grew up around the redwood mulch. It was unplanned
but surprisingly beautiful.

We are just getting ready to plant some stuff in our grow boxes and I broke out
a few of the bags of the redwood chips and put it on the top of a couple boxes.
I've attached a couple pictures.

Hopefully, in a few weeks, I'll post a follow up with some cool pictures to
show how the color has changed.

Anyway, not really any tips about using the LOM but the chips came directly
from using the LOM :).

Tracy

Hey Tracy,

Thanks for sharing. Nothing more rewarding or sweet smelling either right.
About like saving cedar chips and sawdust. I used to save that stuff by
the bag too.
look forward to seeing those boxes of plants flurrish now too.
I had a bunch of cedar sticks from a lumber stickering days and my wife
and I
chipped them up and used them as a covering on the newspaper we put down
in the garden to keep weeds down. The whole garden smelled good. Might help
keep the deer or rabbits out too. right.
Anyway thanks for sharing Tracy.

Tracy,I echo Bill's comments - I was thinking the same thing.  Especially if you use it to fill in open areas, pockets, checks, etc in a light color wood like maple or hickory. We all look forward to your follow-up photos. What's that huge vegetable plant on the other side of the fence in photo that ends w/5105.  Squash?  It sure has a head start on whatever you are planting in your Grow Boxes. Thanks for sharing.Mac-Original Message-
