Yes my last goal is to own a legacy Z axis I know I can make one but I would
like a legacy one too. And of course I always want your rotary cross slide
yours is the only one I have ever seen.

Hey Bill,

Yeah I put my Z axis system back on to run more of the dado's and grooves that
i do.

and put it on the left that way I can still leave my plunge router over on the
end where I

tend to play at the moment. I like the plunge action much better for getting
down into

cut and back out. So much quicker. but the Z axis saddle has a prominent place
in what

I am doing when horizontal and vertical milling. Grooves and Dados etc...

I do need to get another complete split nut system for the acme thread though.
Currently

I manually slide the Z axis Carriage/saddle.

I have been doing a lot of dado's on my LOM 1200

This has been working extremely well as you can see what your doing.

Set up is as quick as the router table or faster and far easier to see.

I'd assume no big deal to most but this machine has to own up to the

space it uses in my shop.

I have done many 1/4 dados and several 3/4 X 1/4 deep for cabinet work.

Here I used the Horizontal vise other times I have a piece of MDF that I mount

on the rails just for dado's

Right, but you can slide both tailstocks all the way to either end to do really
long work if necessary . I have even milled 2 separate operations and different
pitches on the one piece at the same time for fun but it’s just too difficult
to do to be practical and way to long to set up

RE: Dadoing drawer sides on the LOM1200

2021-08-07 Thread bulkeley
Well Tim don’t let the grass grow under your feet, before these taps it was 10
years ago that I found 2 only 2 me and Tim K bought them they were in the uk
and mine burnt in the fire so Tim K has the only original one in existence. If
the ones on ebay go you will never see another for years if ever.

Hey Bill,

No I have not bought that but I would also want the metal plate etc... that is
used to complete the system.

So I am looking for the complete unit that bolts right on.

I will look into getting one of those soon I think though. I could make most
everything if I really wanted but

I'm one of those that if it's made buy it. lol

That way you can make your own.

Hey Bill,

Yeah I put my Z axis system back on to run more of the dado's and grooves that
i do.

and put it on the left that way I can still leave my plunge router over on the
end where I

tend to play at the moment. I like the plunge action much better for getting

I am doing when horizontal and vertical milling. Grooves and Dados etc...

I do need to get another complete split nut system for the acme thread though.
Currently

I manually slide the Z axis Carriage/saddle.

This has been working extremely well as you can see what your doing.

Set up is as quick as the router table or faster and far easier to see.

Morning/Afternoon People,

I am a little worried that the group's security has been breached.

Here in the UK, I am getting lots of emails from USA insurance/home security
firms pushing me to install one of their systems. I know I can (and do) just
delete the emails. The only contact I have with USA is through this group, so I
am assuming that our LOM group has been infiltrated?

Please could someone check this out?

Re: Re Group security

2021-08-07 Thread Tim Ziegler
Hi Bridgette,

Yes the security systems emails have gone rampant here in the states and
they
seem to insert them everywhere. Seems like if you even talk about something
now days it shows up as ads almost instantly.
Its funny because we get tons of you tube from the Aussie side too so not
sure
how it can be avoided. Good luck with it.

Re: Dadoing drawer sides on the LOM1200

2021-08-07 Thread Tim Ziegler
Hey Bill,

Yeah I put my Z axis system back on to run more of the dado's and grooves
that i do.
and put it on the left that way I can still leave my plunge router over on
the end where I
tend to play at the moment. I like the plunge action much better for
getting down into
cut and back out. So much quicker. but the Z axis saddle has a
prominent place in what
I am doing when horizontal and vertical milling. Grooves and Dados etc...
I do need to get another complete split nut system for the acme thread
though. Currently
I manually slide the Z axis Carriage/saddle.

Cheers

Brigitte

I have been doing a lot of dado's on my LOM 1200

This has been working extremely well as you can see what your doing.

Set up is as quick as the router table or faster and far easier to see.

I'd assume no big deal to most but this machine has to own up to the

space it uses in my shop.

I have done many 1/4 dados and several 3/4 X 1/4 deep for cabinet work.

Here I used the Horizontal vise other times I have a piece of MDF that I mount

on the rails just for dado's
