 Jeff,

That sounds to be almost EXACTLY like the venue in Baltimore, MD - where
The Woodworking Shows normally start the show season.
It is held in one of the buildings used for the Maryland State Fair - in
Timonium, MD. (north side of B'more)
We REALLY hate that the Woodworking Show seems to be floundering. I, for
one, am willing to pay a bit more for admission. I feel the price for the
4 days is very low. If they raised it to $18 at the door and $16 after
coupons/discounts, I would not complain. I don't think they have raised
the admission price in the last 5-6 years at least!
 Cheers!

Jeff & Tim,

Keep it up and I'm going to have to submit you guys the the National
Association to Prevent the Burning of Beautiful Wood (NA2PBBW).
You will be nominated for Special Recognition - and designated "Bronze Members"
(entry level).
A requisite for that designation is you will have to mail samples of the
Beautiful Wood you "rescued" to 10 members of "The Group".  Those samples will
need to be "finely finished" on all six faces and must be a minimum of one
board foot in size.
Better get started - cutting and finishing your pieces!

Got my 1200 the same time there.

I belong to the Western Mass Woodturners; they meet right across the street

meeting they notified us that is on for Jan 14-16 but with only 4 vendors

When I was burning wood I pulled out lots of tiger stripe and saved them,
so mighty nice wood goes into the fire if

2021-12-15 Thread Tim Ziegler
Hey Jack,
Welcome and thanks for the input.
Yes the woodworking shows are an awesome place to find new tool, trying to
hit the market,
and tried and true tools and getting "show specialtys" lol.
that is where Bead Loc started I'm pretty sure, Inline Indjustries gets
most of his sales at shows too.
Lots of stuff to see.

2021-12-15 Thread Jeff Richmond

ï»żInteresting đŸ€” I am about 1 hour east of Hartford, CT

I have a small sawmill but cut mainly for my own outdoor projects. Although, I
eyeballed a piece of firewood yesterday while splitting that I just couldn’t
bring myself to burn. Too late for the sawmill as it was already cut short so I
may use it for candle stands on the Legacy.

I burn my scraps but what happens when even the scraps look pretty good? đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

Your comments reminded me of the Baltimore wood working show. I went every year
when I lived in Maryland. Shows don’t come to Louisiana— closes show is Houston
or Atlanta. If anyone can attend a show I highly recommend it. Good place to
see what’s new especially new tools created by individuals trying to create a
market. Baltimore is where I first met Andy and saw my LoM 1200

There are videos out there where they are doing M&Ts on pieces that come
together at an angle - and maybe even at compound angles.  You never know how
easy or difficult that is/can be until you get your own and do it yourself from
start to finish.  Just like so many folks experienced with the LOMs they bought
at TWWS.  That's probably why you see so many being sold that were hardly or
never used; much less those that never even got completely assembled.

They were working on it - but realized that they'd only be able to sell it to
the likes of a "Paul Bunyan"-size customer and that it would have to be
connected to a Diesel generator the size of "Babe" to power it!
I think they have since reconsidered the whole idea and will most likely
relegate it to the wood pile. LoL!

Hey Bill see below:

You are correct, it’s a fixed z axis. Live x and y (2D) doesn’t require huge
computing power to operate at high accuracy levels. If the Origin had a live z
axis the onboard computer wouldn’t be adequate for 3D work and it would require
the machine to be tethered to a remote computer like every 3D CNC.

Believe they start 1st in Baltimore then up to West Springfield, was told they
are only dong 6 shows for 2022 their communications have always been very poor
lucky if we get 2 weeks’ notice at the Club to prepare for the Show fortunately
we are affiliated with Woodcraft so they provide lathes and turning accessories
for us.

BTW, Jeff you mentioned timber frame joinery I’m also a sawyer and mill beams,
I’m 3 hours from Hartford CT.

Jeff,

That sounds to be almost EXACTLY like the venue in Baltimore, MD - where The
Woodworking Shows normally start the show season.

It is held in one of the buildings used for the Maryland State Fair - in
Timonium, MD. (north side of B'more)

We REALLY hate that the Woodworking Show seems to be floundering. I, for one,
am willing to pay a bit more for admission. I feel the price for the 4 days is
very low. If they raised it to $18 at the door and $16 after
coupons/discounts, I would not complain. I don't think they have raised the
admission price in the last 5-6 years at least!

Cheers!

Mac

As a quick explanation, The Big E is short for Eastern States Exposition and is
a large country fair type event held in Springfield Massachusetts for a couple
weeks in late September into early October each year. During the rest of the
year, the fairgrounds are used for other types of events, including “the
woodworking shows”.

Jeff,

Got my 1200 the same time there.

I belong to the Western Mass Woodturners; they meet right across the street
from the Big E. We always do turning demos during the Show and at last week’s
meeting they notified us that is on for Jan 14-16 but with only 4 vendors
signed up so far. Across the border here in NY face masks are mandated again
regardless of one’s vaccine status, a big long running Sportsman Show near me
in Johnstown scheduled for February just canceled as a result.

Yes, I miss attending the Woodworking Shows as well. It was a yearly ritual

I hope to attend in January 2022 but we will see.

Hey Bill see below:

You are correct, it’s a fixed z axis. Live x and y (2D) doesn’t require
huge computing power to operate at high accuracy levels. If the Origin had
a live z axis the onboard computer wouldn’t be adequate for 3D work and it
would require the machine to be tethered to a remote computer like every 3D
CNC.

If FesTool is part of it, I assume it’s costly but they do make good

Rollie is a great guy and a wealth of knowledge but haven’t crossed
paths with him in some time due all the Shows being shut down. “The
Woodworking Shows” are on the books in January for West Springfield Mass
where I always see him but now with new COVID restrictions enacted
yesterday I would have to believe the Show will go dark again.

Oh gotcha, I guess I don't know anymore about it then what he'd said.

I did not know Festool bought out the idea or acquired it. Thanks for

Like for me I would not be the least interested in it.
