RE: vacuum flask blank

2022-01-24 Thread M.W.Foscue
Bill,
I attached a screen grab of what we, here, call a flask.
Front to back it is only about 1". Usually only about 4 to 6 inches tall, if
that;and about 4" wide.
They were designed to allow one to "sneak" alcohol into venues when alcohol was
not allowed - and later when alcohol got expensive.

The tumblers you & I have been describing are esentially worthless for what you
and I want them for - keep our beverage hot or cold.  If you have a non-vacuum
tumbler, you may as well use a Red Dixie Cup!

Cheers!

Bill,

Woodcraft used to sell them as a "kit".  Hads a stainless inner "liner" and a
prepared wood "sleeve" that you'd sand, stain, finish, and assemble.
Note: Pretty sure it was NOT a vacuum tumbler - so wasn't much good for keeping
hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold.

I think I saw them in a sale around Black Friday - in a "Clearance" sale?  So
they may not have them anymore.

In any case check Woodcraft, Rockler, Woodworkers' Supply, and others.

RE: DynaGlide suppliers

2022-01-24 Thread bulkeley
I bought not that long ago a product called one shot bullet case lube it is
made by dyna glide for a gun company called Hornady it has dyna glide in it how
much they wouldn’t say but it is the closest thing to the genuine I can buy
here 2 cans cost me 80 bucks my money and they are not very big cans so
sometimes a cheaper product you have to spray one or even twice for each job
doesn’t seem that bad when the can is around 10 bucks.if it works ok I will use
it

Good morning Everyone, Tim.

I spent appx. 2 years trying to find a better or homemade product to replace
Dyna-Glide. some work for a short time, but So far nothing that I've found can
replace Dyna-Glide.

https://woodworker.com/dynaglide-plus-lube-spray-cleaner-14-oz-mssu-171-203.asp
also carry's it. Perhaps you could try them?

In a pinch
https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hornady-one-shot-with-dynaglide-plus-gun-cleaner-and-dry-lube
Hornady ONE SHOT has Dyna-Glide in it. And it works pretty good on the
Legacy. ONE Advantage of using ONE SHOT, is you can buy it in the liquid by the
1/2 gal. and put that in a spray bottle your self. This ONE Shot works, but
dose not seem to me to last as long as Dyna-Glide its self.

A third option that did worked for me, WAS a home made version. Lamp oil (
Liquid Paraffin) and Japanese dryer in a spray bottle . (NOTE this did work
well, but it also made a film that needed to be remove after a short time of
using it.

Products that work for a very short time ARE.

Plegde https://www.pledge.com/en-us It's Dirt CHEAP! and you can buy it
anyway, Sold in grocery stores, hardware stores... If used daily on the Legacy,
This could be a good product, It only lasted a few hours of use before it needs
to be used again. So there is a trade off with going cheap. BUT IT DOES WORK
WELL.

Now products like T-9 and Top coat ( sold at both Rockler and Wood Craft.) only
lasted (a little longer than Pledge) but did work OK ,But for the price
difference, I just do not think its worth it.

In short Nothing that I've found works better then Dyna-Glide for use on the
Legacy. This is one (of many) reason why I went to Linear rail on my machine.

I hope this help?

Have a good day.

Hi Tim,

What was "the number on the can" that you called?
What did you get?
I have 2 older cans with phone numbers on them.
Here's what I experienced: (calls made ~ 22:15 to 22: 30 tonight)
  * 888-603-8558 - As soon as dialing stopped, I got the usual "busy signal"
(buzz - buzz - buzz). "Dead" #?
  * 508-777-0100 - 3 calls:  1st two ended with a "call failed" msg on screen.
3rd call: "We are sorry. All circuits are busy.  Please hang up and try your
call later."
  * 800-726-7845 - Got an answering device: "Thank you for for calling Bostick
- your global leader in ... . Our hours are 07:30AM to 5:00PM Central Time ...
."

I hope this helps.

I came across a site that indicates that DynaGlide is available in 1 gallon
cans and 5 gallon pails.

Would that be shippable to the "D.U."?

Did someone state that it can be ordered in the "liquid state" - not in an
aerosol can?
If so, that certainly would be less expensive - on a per ounce basis.

What the label states it sounds pretty good.(Just so others can see the info.
on the label, here it is.)

DETAILS
Quality Aerosols® SlickKote is a dry lubricating film that, when applied to
metal surfaces, bonds to metal to create a super slick surface. When used on
table saw tables and woodworking equipment in general, wood moves freely across
the surface, as well as wood dust. It almost refuses to stick or get hung up,
which makes cleanup and stock movement so much easier. It also provides
corrosion resistance. SlickKote contains no chemicals that will interfere with
finish or glue, making it an ideal addition to your shop.
Features:
  * Bonds to metal, creating a super slick surface
  * Makes stock movement and cleanup easier
  * Reduces friction on laminate, metal & plastic surfaces
  *  Inhibits corrosion
  * Contains no petroleum oils or silicones

Specifications:
  * Applications: Table saws, rip saws, band saws, shapers, jointers & various
pneumatic tools
  *  Net Weight: 11 Ounces
  *  Shelf Life: 1 Year +

What's Included:
  *  (1) Quality Aerosols - SlickKote Anti-Friction Coating - Aerosol - 11 Ounce

replace Dyna-Glide.

https://woodworker.com/dynaglide-plus-lube-spray-cleaner-14-oz-mssu-171-203.asp
also carry's it. Perhaps you could try them?
In a pinch
https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hornady-one-shot-with-dynaglide-plus-gun-cleaner-and-dry-lube
Hornady ONE SHOT has Dyna-Glide in it.  And it works pretty good on the
Legacy. ONE Advantage of using ONE SHOT, is you can buy it in the liquid by the
1/2 gal. and put that in a spray bottle your self.  This ONE Shot works, but
dose not seem to me to last as long as Dyna-Glide its self.

A third option that did worked for me, WAS a home made version.   Lamp oil (
Liquid Paraffin) and Japanese dryer in a spray bottle . (NOTE this did work
well, but it also made a film that needed to be remove after a short time of
using it.

Have a good day.

 https://woodworker.com/dynaglide-plus-lube-spray-cleaner-14-oz-mssu-171-203.asp
also carry's it. Perhaps you could try them?
 In a pinch
 https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hornady-one-shot-with-dynaglide-plus-gun-cleaner-and-dry-lube
Hornady ONE SHOT has Dyna-Glide in it. And it works pretty good on the
Legacy. ONE Advantage of using ONE SHOT, is you can buy it in the liquid
by the 1/2 gal. and put that in a spray bottle your self. This ONE Shot
works, but dose not seem to me to last as long as Dyna-Glide its self.

A third option that did worked for me, WAS a home made version. Lamp oil
( Liquid Paraffin) and Japanese dryer in a spray bottle . (NOTE this did
work well, but it also made a film that needed to be remove after a short
 time of using it.

Products that work for a very short time ARE.
Plegde https://www.pledge.com/en-us It's Dirt CHEAP! and you can buy it
anyway, Sold in grocery stores, hardware stores... If used daily on the
Legacy, This could be a good product, It only lasted a few hours of use
before it needs to be used again. So there is a trade off with going
cheap. BUT IT DOES WORK WELL.

Now products like T-9 and Top coat ( sold at both Rockler and Wood Craft.)
only lasted (a little longer than Pledge) but did work OK ,But for the
price difference, I just do not think its worth it.

In short Nothing that I've found works better then Dyna-Glide for use on
the Legacy. This is one (of many) reason why I went to Linear rail on my
 machine.

 I hope this help?

 Have a good day.

Re: DynaGlide suppliers

2022-01-24 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
Hello JeffThat's a new one on me. I have not seen that one before.  If need be
it might work?  Are you planning to try it your self ? What the label states it
sounds pretty good.(Just so others can see the info. on the label, here it is.)

Features:

   - Bonds to metal, creating a super slick surface
   - Makes stock movement and cleanup easier
   - Reduces friction on laminate, metal & plastic surfaces
   - Inhibits corrosion
   - Contains no petroleum oils or silicones
Specifications:

   - Applications: Table saws, rip saws, band saws, shapers, jointers & various
pneumatic tools
   - Net Weight: 11 Ounces
   - Shelf Life: 1 Year +
What's Included:

   - (1) Quality Aerosols - SlickKote Anti-Friction Coating - Aerosol - 11 Ounce

Have a good day.

I spent appx. 2 years trying to find a better or homemade product to replace
Dyna-Glide. some work for a short time, but So far nothing that I've found can
replace Dyna-Glide.
https://woodworker.com/dynaglide-plus-lube-spray-cleaner-14-oz-mssu-171-203.asp
also carry's it. Perhaps you could try them?
In a pinch
https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hornady-one-shot-with-dynaglide-plus-gun-cleaner-and-dry-lube
Hornady ONE SHOT has Dyna-Glide in it.  And it works pretty good on the
Legacy. ONE Advantage of using ONE SHOT, is you can buy it in the liquid by the
1/2 gal. and put that in a spray bottle your self.  This ONE Shot works, but
dose not seem to me to last as long as Dyna-Glide its self.
A third option that did worked for me, WAS a home made version.   Lamp oil (
Liquid Paraffin) and Japanese dryer in a spray bottle . (NOTE this did work
well, but it also made a film that needed to be remove after a short time of
using it.
Products that work for a very short time ARE.Plegde
https://www.pledge.com/en-us   It's Dirt CHEAP! and you can buy it anyway, Sold
in grocery stores, hardware stores... If used daily on the Legacy, This could
be a good product, It only lasted a few hours of use before it needs to be used
again. So there is a trade off with going cheap.  BUT IT DOES WORK WELL.

C.A.G.

 Good morning all,
Checking to see where others are getting "Dynaglide". I have tried some
different substitutes for this but have never really found one that works quite
as well. Bostik Glidecoat being one I currently use as well as  Dynaglide.I
have used a couple other's from misc. suppliers but to no avail. So besides
through Legacy I have found 2 other suppliers
that carry it. One is out of stock with the promise is "more on it's
