Re: .50 set

2023-01-11 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
Hello Everyone.Just got home. Wow, that is a lot to read tonight!
the .5 gear set, was a Wood Chuck gear set. It was dropped form the inventory
of Legacy for one very real reason. All the numbers possible (pitches) form the
.5 gear set, are already covered by the other three gear sets Legacy sold. So
it really was not needed.

2023-01-11 Thread bulkeley
Tom open the pic then click on the snipping tool, that little button that looks
like a pair of scissors ,when the little box appears on the screen click the
scissors icon in that then draw a box around your pic then on the new box click
file and on the drop down click save as, and choose desktop

And click save . the pic you save will be a lot less megabits in size

I would be interested in any and all info on the rotary for the LOM.

I am a new owner of a 900 model and am slowly getting it together and I find
the rotary

table concept very interesting.

I am a retired machinist so maybe I could build myself one with some helpful
information from

this group.

Thanks, Ken

Sorry Tom,

it looks like you're getting it. Do you have the snipit tool?

This will shrink them right down to where you get to post at least 7 pic's
as long as you save as a jpeg.

There are exceptions to the copyright laws. Fair use is one. While I wouldn’t
POST anything on YouTube, I’d be comfortable sharing amongst us. Most (all?) of
the copyright infringement actions are for commercial sales. We don’t charge
anything.

Remember, Legacy is the copyright owner. Are they going to sue us, their loyal
minions? I’d be stunned if we even got a nastygram.

As for viewing a video after searching for Legacy? Have at it. With a YouTube
Red subscription—$15/month—you can save videos and the ones you watch have no
ads.

You can always copy videos you own.

Enjoy. The Black helicopters won’t come after you.

RE: Plastic gears

2023-01-11 Thread bulkeley
It would have to be an outside mill I think with a cover over it when not in
use before I built my shop

I had several machines like that there is something nice about milling outside
I use to take my revo camping remember

Before I enlarged it. A cordless router and hand cranking you can play all day,
I bet I’m the only person who ever

Worked a legacy mill in a boat lol a chainsaw and the mill use to get me some
real nice exotic blanks that way at times

While out fishing in some of the remote rivers of northern Australia lol but it
turned out easier to just bring the wood back to camp

I did it from a boat that trip because I was staying in a caravan park and they
took a dim view of me milling in their park lol

I know I’m insane but I did draw a crowd in places where I could camp and mill 

Yes mac you would hardly ever use them it would be only be if you were trying
to match an existing spiral I believe

But it would be nice just to have a set .

I think if you changed out the small gear bolted on the standard gear set to
one double that dia

It would convert the standard set to a .5 gear set something I been thinking
about for a while I have several standard gear sets

I have yet to see if that is true but I think it might

The thing is $900 or even $1500 if you could get a big mill with it on just
have parts shipped to you and have the owner scrap the rest

A drive motor and controllers were worth $889 plus the 4X gears plus what ever
else extras come with the big mill you still would be in front

2023-01-11 Thread M.W.Foscue
Very nice. Thanks.
Who made them - and how?

Now for the "important" question: Where do they fit in as far as usability -
what do you make with them that you can't with the Standard or the .25 set? Or
are they like the 4X set - that folks own but only use once or twice - if at
all<

Thanks.

Re: Plastic gears

2023-01-11 Thread Tim Ziegler
Thanks for sharing Bill.
All you guys interested in this? this was the set I posted a few weeks ago
about getting made.
We have a local company and permission to make them but no one showed any
interest.
It would run between $600-$800 approx to manufacture if we had enough
people.
But maybe plastic would be cheaper, but some of these gears need bearings
pressed into them too.
Just my 1/2 cent worth.
