The handle is 3/4 thick, Brazilian cherry . with a 3/8 steel shaft
running through the wood,
I used my 1/2 pen roping bit to make the wooden handle part, I used a
2 stat rope with a 1/4 pitch.

I know this is not a big project, but after working a 10 hour day, at
work,I needed to get out in the shop and escape form reality for at
least a short time.and un-wind.

I though it turned out well. and wanted to share with all of you.
If anyone what's to know more, Please feel free to ask.
talk to you all latter.

RE: A roped Wooden handle.

2015-04-18 Thread Bill Bulkeley
Very interesting curt with a ½ inch cutter and 2 start I would normally do a 1
inch pitch so using ¼ of the pitch normally used

It made a interesting spiral i have never seen that before looks good

Subject: A roped Wooden handle.

Hello Everyone.

With all this pen turning stuff (topic's) that we have been taking about last
week, got me thinking, why not do something a little different along the pen
turning lines.

Well here it is!Something a bit different. ;-)

A roped wooden handle for a jig that I am making.

The handle is 3/4 thick, Brazilian cherry . with a 3/8 steel shaft running
through the wood,

I used my 1/2 pen roping bit to make the wooden handle part, I used a 2 stat
rope with a 1/4 pitch.

I know this is not a big project, but after working a 10 hour day, at work,I
needed to get out in the shop and escape form reality for at least a short
time.and un-wind.

I though it turned out well. and wanted to share with all of you.

If anyone what's to know more, Please feel free to ask.
