Wow, Curt.  You put a lot of thought and effort into this.  And the result 
looks very professional.  

Since this is a copier, I can see the aggressive cutter making easy work of 
it.  But it is not capable of ropes and twists as shown, right?  Not needed 
in your case since you have other machines to do that. 

I'm  curious.  I see a Shopsmith lurking and since I bought my first 
machine in 1973 I have pondered again and again about copier and rope twist 
addons.  Didn't have the knowledge or metal workshop to make it happen.  
I'm just curious if anyone has pursued the idea.  I did actually draft up

Hello Everyone.

 

I just picked up a sweet little machine just over a month ago now. (that I've 
wanted a 200 for many years now.) 

I've made a few modification to it, To make it work even better, For me.

 

I didn't need to make any of these MOD's, but I wanted to make a better 
machine/A way to do, the type of work I have been dreaming of doing for a long 
time. I saw this machine as a very good starting point, for what I wanted to do.

 

I first added Legs to it, (taking the legs form an "Old" Wood Chuck mill.) To 
make it a self standing machine. (I don't have any free counter space in my 
shop.)

I also modified the template follower, so I can use all my Templates that I use 
on my lathe with this mill. 

Then I added a Angle Grinder (replacing the lam. router Legacy originally used 
with this mill.)  I also added a Veil copy lathe cutter, ( I off-set the Z axis 
to make the clearance for this cutter.)

THIS MOD, made this Little machine is now a Great Copy mill, (And it works 
GREAT!)

But ,I wanted something more then just a copy Mill, So I keep working on some 
other ideas that I needed to make this into a "Supper" machine.

I then added the Legacy's gearing system to it ,  (I figured, why not? I can 
now, use all my gears and other Legacy attachment's on this mill.)

 

I also added a counter balance system, for the Z axis, it now only takes appx. 
1.5 lbs. to lift and lower the z axis on the template. 

I also made a fine adjustment control to the Z axis/template follower. (for 
better control on fine cuts, like roping and other cutting methods.)

This project has taken me over a month to complete. (I still have a few, little 
things to do, but its mostly done now.)

To rap up this hole project, I then "Painted" all my parts, giving this unit a

(I don't have any free counter space in my shop.)I also modified the template follower, so I can use all my Templates that I use on my lathe with this mill. Then I added a Angle Grinder (replacing the lam. router Legacy originally used with this mill.)  I also added a Veil copy lathe cutter, ( I off-set the Z axis to make the clearance for this cutter.)THIS MOD, made this Little machine is now a Great Copy mill, (And it works GREAT!)But ,I wanted something more then just a copy Mill, So I keep working on some other ideas that I needed to make this into a "Supper" machine.I then added the Legacy's gearing system to it ,  (I figured, why not? I can now, use all my gears and other Legacy attachment's on this mill.)I also added a counter balance system, for the Z axis, it now only takes appx. 1.5 lbs. to lift and lower the z axis on the template. I also made a fine adjustment control to the Z axis/template follower. (for better control on fine cuts, like roping and other cutting methods.)This project has taken me over a month to complete. (I still have a few, little things to do, but its mostly done now.)To rap up this hole project, I then "Painted" all my parts, giving this unit a finished look to it.(This combined with a very busy work schedule, Are the main reason's why I've been a little quite on the group page this last month.)Please let me know what you think?I hope to show you all, some more work from This machine in the very near future.Have a good day.
