If the roller that contacts the rosette template came in from the side instead
of underneath would that make a larger pattern on the work

If so have it move from the side to the bottom would change the pattern size or
am i on the wrong track

Thank you.

The idea is to get the most of of the Legacy, I started looking as some other
Ornamental turning equipment, trying to figure out different ways to make
something different, I found an Ornamental slide rest in one of my Holtzappffel
turning books.

The concept of template following was made in the design of the Legacy, but how
could I get more from a template then just following a straight line?

Since Tim found the Atkinson"s reciprocating jig (which became the Wave
attachment) I figured that the two concepts were close enough to each-other to
be useful on the Legacy.

I am still playing around with different shapes and sizes of templates. I am
finding the simpler template shapes work best, Oval, triangle, square, hart shape
... work nicely, but more Ornamental (detailed patterns like a rose lathe uses)
dose not work well with this concept.

Now what I am also looking at is , different types of cuts as well. example
cutting form the side vs the top. or cutting for off center vs on center...

I am planing to try an off center cut today, My theory is off center with a
cutter and a more quick changing template, should give me a pumping action look
(which is more an OT type of looking cut.)

Wish me luck. and I will let you all know how it turns out. ;-)

I think so? but at this time I just have not figured out how to do it,yet.

I was hoping that with a different router bit will make it more pronounced?
(and that still might be... perhaps a smaller cutter?) Tomorrow I am going to
try it with a side fluting cutter bit.

If that doesn't work, I think its more the template/rosette that needs to be
bigger. or perhaps a finer follower...?

I wish that I knew?

I am having fun, exploring new ideas, and different methods. All the I can say

2017-05-06 Thread artmarbles
Curt, that link that you are pointing to is from an author that is still alive.
His name is John Edwards and the book is very enlightening. Please see his
website for more information: http://www.ornamentalturning.co.uk/

Max, the sharing of copyrighted legacy material is not encouraged in any manner
outside of this group. I have an agreement with Legacy that limit it's
distribution. More details will be provided in the future. There is also an on
going task of recovering lost information that is no longer available from
Legacy. The exchange of money really has nothing to do with the legal sharing.

2017-05-06 Thread CURTIS GEORGE
I think so? but at this time I just have not figured out how to do it,yet.
All the I can say
now is, Those OLD DUDES had some very real smarts...( the OT guys.) ;-) If a
man could do in back in the late 1700's. Im sure that, with a little work, I
should be able to at the very least understand how to get this done. ;-)

I want to be fully honest with everyone here, I would like you all to help me.
Im sure someone out there could, or perhaps as a part of a collective we could
do some Really Cool stuff with our Legacy's
At least that's part of my goal.
Have a good night.

No but you are close. its my home made jig that I am calling the Rose Follower

around with an oval shaped pattern at this time, Switching the pattern/book
marking. is much easier to do with this jig.

I just was looking for something a little different. so far the hart shape is
my favorite. different patterns make different designs.

Wish me luck. and I will let you all know how it turns out. ;-)

HI Bill

No but you are close. its my home made jig that I am calling the Rose Follower
. I used a 1/8" bull nose bit. and as you can see in the photo, I am playing
around with an oval shaped pattern at this time, Switching the pattern/book
marking. is much easier to do with this jig.

I just was looking for something a little different. so far the hart shape is
my favorite. different patterns make different designs.

more latter.
