Not my thing Curt. My strengths are in project design and (I think) fine
woodworking execution, but when it comes to machine modifications and such, I'm
out of my element.
Thanks for the encouragement nevertheless! Maybe someone else can tag onto
what you suggest.

Re: Woodchuck on Ebay - $900

2020-06-27 Thread JOHNNY L TYLER
I got to thinking on my cycle ride about what you were trying to achieve, and
realized you were thinking outside the narrow box I was in. Your idea of
swapping out all the gearing on you LOM with the gears from the Woodchuck will
work! What I didn't say clearly was that trying to mesh the older stamped
gearing with the newer laser cut gearing would not work. So I just took the
gears off the Woodchuck and took their similar gears off the LOM, and sure
enough, all Legacy did was upgrade their gearing. All square center holes
match on everything. And the red decal for setting up pitch etc on your LOM is
identical to the same decal on the Woodmaster. Maybe this changes our
discussion?
John
gotta go to town, will be back in about an hour so that's why I won't respond
if you email again.

2020-06-27 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
 Hello everyone.
Just a note.  The gear on the Wood Chuck  will and do fit on my Legacy 1000ex.
Legacy did change the gears around some when they started making them on the
laser, making /cutting larger teeth on some of the gear sets. But I do think
despite this... those older WC gears will still work on the Legacy Ornamental
Mills.

RE: Woodchuck on Ebay - $900

2020-06-27 Thread 'Denson Ingram' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
So even if you use all Woodchuck, lets say, from drive gear to the other two it
still will not works? Are the shaft holes/fittings not the same? Wow that’s a
disappointment. I have a 1200 and have been looking for a .25 reduction set and
a 2X multiplier for mine with no luck as of yet. Well that is good info to
have. I might have made a deal for something I could not use.
Thank you for that info. If the gears would work I sure would have talked to
you about them.
Thanks
Denson

Whoa, friend! Not so. The gears for the LOM are all laser cut, wheareas the
Woodchuck's were stamped. Legacy told me this, otherwise I would have assumed
the same as you.

Re: Woodchuck on Ebay - $900

2020-06-27 Thread 'Denson Ingram' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
I saw that. I have tried 3 times to correspond with the seller. It seems he has
no interest in selling parts or breaking down and shipping the entire metal
parts minus the wood base. I was going to offer him a very decent price but no
response.
Thanks
Denson

Woodchuck on Ebay - $900

2020-06-27 Thread artmarbles
No router, but it has the gearmotor and speed control and some gears and index
plates. Maybe you could convince him to part it out and recycle the rest?
There is a obo on the listing so who knows. Asking is free 😊

That mod was a garage monkey mod. One picture you can even see a chain they
used to pull it forward when in the y axis mode. Oh the WoodChuck
she's a good machine, if you treat'r right.
  Mike
PS I can turn a 17" diameter on mine.
