While you are pondering this. How about re-making that Wood Chuck into a modern linear rail machine. I mean how hard would it be to add linear rail the the X &Y axis's. You could even do as I did and make your own Z axis. You have the base machine, all you need is to buy a better rail, Or keep what you have and add on, or replace all together. I got to thinking on my cycle ride about what you were trying to achieve, and realized you were thinking outside the narrow box I was in. Your idea of swapping out all the gearing on you LOM with the gears from the Woodchuck will work! What I didn't say clearly was that trying to mesh the older stamped gearing with the newer laser cut gearing would not work. So I just took the gears off the Woodchuck and took their similar gears off the LOM, and sure enough, all Legacy did was upgrade their gearing. All square center holes match on everything. And the red decal for setting up pitch etc on your LOM is identical to the same decal on the Woodmaster. Maybe this changes our discussion? Hello everyone. Just a note. The gear on the Wood Chuck will and do fit on my Legacy 1000ex. Legacy did change the gears around some when they started making them on the laser, making /cutting larger teeth on some of the gear sets. But I do think despite this... those older WC gears will still work on the Legacy Ornamental Mills. C.A.G.
