Fw: [LegacyUG] Legacy Tip: memorized dates/places

2007-03-08 Thread Janis Gilmore
I have the deluxe version, but when I click on one of the field labels, I do
not get a list - I get a message that says something like do you want
replace the contents of this field with 4 June 1799 (or various other bits
of info - but always one piece of info, not a list).

Have I not properly unlocked the deluxe features, possibly?

  Hi,
You can link to a pdf file or a doc file or any other file type of
your choice in the Picture Gallery - add in the Sound or Video
sections and choose to view All files (*.*) so you can see your files
  of other file types.

With some pdf's you can copy the text and paste that into Legacy
  General Notes etc

If that is what you are doing, I don't know why the notes wouldn't
save. Please clarify if you really have copied and pasted the text into notes.

  Thanks

Re: [LegacyUG] PowerPoint Presentation

2007-03-08 Thread Brian/Support
Go to Options Customize Launch Tab. In the bottom left look for the
setting for the default sound and video player. Change that to the
Windows Default Player.

To run the presentation from within Legacy you can now double click on
the icon for the attached file. That should open Powerpoint and load the
presentation.

Mark,
Does it work if you attach it using either the Audio or the Video icon
when you go to Attach Pictures? You might not be able to run it from
Legacy, but it should attach. (I think!) I don't have a file to test
this.

Re: [LegacyUG] Master Source List Missing

2007-03-08 Thread Glenn Kinkade

Kay, Cathy, Ron

Thanks for your help. When this lady went to ViewMaster ListSource and
looked at Show Only she found that the Tagged option was checked. Since
she had not tagged any sources they all disappeared. What caused the
problem was also a little out of the ordinary. She had purchased a new
laptop computer, installed Legacy and restored her Family File. When she
tried to cite a source she was using the touch pad rather than a mouse and
was accidentally and unknowingly clicking all over the place. This morning
she vowed never to use that silly touch pad again and went to the local
office supply store and bought a small mouse for her laptop.

Again, thanks for your help. You were right on!

Hi Ron,
Kay is quite right.

It affects both lists - click Cite Master Source and then tick one of the
boxes and watch your sources disappear.

Cathy

At 09:12 AM 8/03/2007, you wrote:

Kay,

I think you will find that only affects the screen at ViewMaster

View and then cite a mater source

Glenn,

Go to View - Master Lists - Source. On the right-hand side of the menu
is a statement Show Only. If the person has ticked one of the items
such as verified then only that category will appear when you attempt
to cite a master source. Sometimes people tick those boxes
inadvertently.

[LegacyUG] quick genealogy question

2007-03-08 Thread Pat Jones
I'm cleaning up my database and currently working on the 1860
census. In the occupation column I keep finding a work that
looks like it might be domestic; however, in this case it is
applied to a male who apparently owned the place where the family
was living as he is the only one with a value in the Value of
real estate owned column. Is that word actually 'domestic, and
if so, what does the enumerator mean by it? If it isn't
domestic, what is is?

Thanks for your help, I haven't been able to find any explanation
in the books I have in my library.
