You could ask the programmers to add these Search and Replace items to

Think for a moment. The "straight Search > Find" process (at least thru
V6) is intended to produce a list of individuals. That is not what you
are asking for.

You can always try using Open Office Base to search tblLR for what you
want.

Correct, but there could be a Search feature like the Search and
Replace without the Replace part and there could be a list of places
that have the text someone is searching for in notes.

Sure. But Boyd asked why it wasn't part of the existing "Search > Find
process". An entirely new process would have to be developed that would
create lists of things that were not individuals (locations, sources,
todo's, etc.).

And it must be remembered that, unlike many other genealogy programs, Legacy
revolves around the individuals and not around the events. To change this would
mean a rethink in the philosophy behind the program and could easily make it
less attractive for those who prefer the Legacy way of working.

To try and combine the two would, I suggest, lead to considerable program bloat
without commensurate benefits.

What are the circumstances that cause you to want to save these files?
Looks like they are all related to your database. A much easier way would
be to create a backup of the database and then save the zipped file that
creates. You will have all the files you need automagically backed up.

Perhaps, but whether it may be in Legacy or VE I have no idea. If Maricopa isn't
a current county then it won't show. There can be instances where the incorrect
location is selected, often because a name is to be found in more than one
location.

When that happens it is not difficult to move the pin to where one knows the

[LegacyUG] Divorce Protocal Again

2008-11-19 Thread ArnieAbr
Hi
Thanks to all who answered my first question about divorce protocol, and now
another question.
My sons divorce is proceeding. No children involved. Now then, if I print
out, say a descendent report, all the marriage notes, his soon to be ex's
notes, events etc. will of course print out. Her picture also.
Is there any way to print out all the reports and not her data and notes.
just a reference to her. Since all this, no matter what, is part of his life (
and of course my wife and I ) for more than seven years, I want to keep it as
something, I do not know what to call it and where to put it. A lot work
went into it, as you all know.
If he marries again, this new wife will for sure be checked as the preferred
wife and her notes, marriage notes, family connections etc., will of will
also be the preferred connection. She may not appreciate a reference to wife
one when times were good.
I hope my dilemma is clear and makes some sort of sense.
Any help would be appreciated,

Arnie

Re: [LegacyUG] Divorce Protocal Again

2008-11-19 Thread JLB
You can mark individual Events as Private and they won't print. You can
put [[ ]] around Notes to make them private. (Also choose this in Report
options.) Pictures I'm not sure about. It might be easier to delete them.
