RE: [LegacyUG] Someone
Rich: This wasn't the case in my situation (an "unknown" husband). There was only one marriage--to "someone John Jones" or whoever he was. And Keith is right; it's definitely a bug but it's been a while and I don't remember whether I reported it or not. It's a fairly unusual data entry sequence for me, so it's not a big deal. [LegacyUG] MRIN changes
Hi Listers Can anyone tell me which table has MRINs? I'd like to change the MRINs through Access, rather than changing 5,000 MRINs one at a time through Legacy. Unless anyone has an easier way of changing the MRINs. I have been playing with Passage Express and found that it doesn't always differentiate between RINs and MRINs when I import pictures etc into PE. So some of my marriage information turns up in an individual's folder who has a similiar RIN to the MRIN. I'd like to change my MRINs to higher numbers to prevent any matching with my RINs. I've been watching the threads on changing User IDs and MRINs and have decided to go with MRINs above 20,000 (my db has 14,000 RINs and about 5,000 MRINs). Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Charting problems
I figured out 1. The photo was corrupted - how, I don't know but I re-cropped from the original and it was fine. 3. I found a (bad) picture of said partner and put it in. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of him (not that there's anything wrong with him, just didn't want a blank space in the chart where his face should be.) The chart's gone off for printing now so I don't want to know about anything I could have done better for at least another year. - JL JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://www.jgen.ws/jlog RICHARD SCHULTHIES wrote: Question 1. is that one persons photo that does not show up but others do? I checked one more thing. In the address window, if you click "Options" you have the option to combine duplicates. This should help if you've added the same address twice. When I later found and entered his name it appeared in Descendant Book Reports just like your "Julia married someone Nelson Taylor." It appears that once the "someone" is triggered, entering a name later just added it to the field but didn't override the "someone." I don't know whether you've perhaps done the same thing, but I had to delete the marriage date, location, and the husband's name and then add the husband again *before* re-entering the marriage information. If you go to page setup from the menu round button, goto page setup. The dialog comes up. You should have a choice next to your the printer you are going to use. That has a properties button next to it, press it, then if you have a advanced button, you can set it to any size. I just set one to 72" just to test it. You have many choices. I should have realised that it was possible you might have put the files in the root directory of your flash drive, I just didn't think as I always put my files into directories and naturally assume ( I know I should not do that) that everyone else does the same thing.{;-) I am glad it is now all sorted for you. Colin in Brisbane too! Ps. Why don't we have a Legacy user group in Brisbane, there seems to be one in every other State? Re: [LegacyUG] Error opening database------could not lock file----flash drive-----problem solved
Hi Evert, Thanks for that suggestion, snip>>You probably have all the files in the root K:, put some of the files on the flash drives in folders and try again.<< That's done the trick, I'm now able to save Legacy to my flash, and also open other .fdb files that I couldn't before. Thank you also, Dennis, for that suggestion. The flash has plenty of space, around 700MB, but putting files into folders has corrected the problem. Thanks to Guido, and Sheri for their input. Also Gary, Elizabeth and Mike. I hope I haven't left anyone out. Re: [LegacyUG] Error opening database------could not lock file----flash drive
Hi Colin, I should have explained myself better, apologies. I did mean that there was plenty of space on the flash drive. I had mentioned that in an earlier post. Problem now solved, see next post. Re: [LegacyUG] sourcing a War Department Certificate

(EE 3.24-3.25, Basic Format, Family Artifacts, pp. 138-39; or QuickCheck Model, p. 105). Essentially, you give the basic who/what/when/where that describes the document, cite the current or last-known whereabouts of the certificate, and then cite the provenance of the artifact (the chain of title that would justify trust in its validity). Now that's the sort of information that I thought the check-box labelled 'Show Evidence Explained page and section numbers' would provide! But, it only seems to work when you serach using a section number from EE :-) -- Regards, Mike Fry Johannesburg.
