I you're using SourceWriter,  each master source has a

On the main Gedcom export window, make sure you have selected "Override Source
Options.

If you click on the context-sensitive Help button while in the Gedcom Export
window, you'll find the following section in the Exporting Gedcom Files topic:

"Override Source options - include everything

"With this option selected, all the information from each source citation
detail is exported to the GEDCOM file. If unselected, the information that is
suppressed, according to the source detail options, is excluded from the GEDCOM
export."

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] GEDCOM Issue
Importance: High

I'm running into a problem that I can not resolve.

In my main family file, I have 299 sources and want to prepare a GECCOM to
share with a cousin that includes all people, families and sources. If I
prepare the GEDCOM to include all persons and families in the file, not all of
the sources get included. I checked the GEDCOM output by opening it into a new
family file; however, when this file is opened, the total number of persons and
families is the same as in my original file, unfortunately, only 218 of the
299 sources are in the 'check file'.

I've tried to extract a portion of my files (i.e., a line of 300 people) and
the number of persons and families appear as well as the number of sources when
this is opened into a new family. In other words, the check file is an exact
duplicate. Why does this not work when preparing a GDCOM of the total file? I
have reviewed the file in Access and the full complement of 299 sources are
present.

Anyone have an idea what I have done wrong and a suggested solution to have
all 299 sources get pulled into the GEDCOM.

Bob

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy for Linux?

2009-04-17 Thread s2f
Janis - thanks for the reply. I have the same setup and you are right, it
works beautifully; however, I would like to go to a full iMAC system and drop
Windows - I keep having so many problems with Windows, that I want to quit this
setup - thus my question about whether there are any plans afoot to write a
Legacy version for the MAC world. With the availability of MS Office for MAC, I
should think that the Access issue would be moot.

Windows is so plagued with virus issues and the constant worry of leaving an
open door to hackers, that I want to get away from it. I have McFee but the
threats are more than I want to contend with. I've tried Ubuntu and other
Linux packages under the VM feature, but none of the genealogy programs in
those OS approach the outstanding features I find in Legacy.

[LegacyUG] How to print "Not Duplicate" persons list?

2009-04-17 Thread Christina
I hope someone can help. I want to print "Not Duplicate" list so I can do
more research on these people. I had merged a family line I am not really
familiar with some names.

If I have to tag them I would have the same problem as far as doing a manual
search on this.

you use a guest os in Linux such as Virtual Box which by the way is free.

Re: [LegacyUG] Transfer Legacy files to reformatted computer?

2009-04-17 Thread Dermot McGlone
Elizabeth,

You can't just copy the whole Legacy folder onto yoru flash drive and
paste it back in, that won't work.

I'd just do a backup of the family file onto the USB flash drive, and
also copy the downloaded setup file (Legacy7Setup.exe) to the same
stick.

When your computer is ready again, use that setup file to load Legacy
onto it, and then restore your family file from the backup. Et Voila!

If you need more info, get back on, and we'll try and guide you
through it in baby steps.

Regards,

Dermot.

RE: [LegacyUG] Transfer Legacy files to reformatted computer?

2009-04-17 Thread ronald ferguson

Elizabeth,

You do not say what your operating system is so I am assuming that it is XP.
Nor do you say which properties you wish to transfer.

If you istalled to default then you will have two main Folders: C:\Legacy\Data.
The data folder (contained in the Legacy folder) contains your .fdb files and
your back up (.zip). I would copy this complete folder to your USB stick.

When you have reformatted, you cannot simply transfer the program to your hard
drive and you must download and install a fresh version from the Legacy
Web-site, or if you have a disc install that and update.

For the above reason you cannot simply copy the Legacy folder to the hard
drive. If you wish to retain your settings then copy the files which have the
extension ".usr" to you USB stick (you can put them in a temporary folder on
the stick).

After installing Legacy, copy the files in your Data folder into the Data
folder which Legacy will have created and the ".usr" files into the Legacy
folder.
