RE: [LegacyUG] User ID field

2009-07-28 Thread Valerie Laskowski
To All,

I would encourage all of you to take advantage of the "Save" and "Load"
settings every time you customize anything. They are available at the file
level, screen levels, and web page levels. It will save you a lot of
headaches in the end.

Dede,

That's the way I do it. I have myself noticed that this update has set a
number of field to the Legacy defaults, something which I have not noticed
before. However, it may just be that previously it only affected those which
I changed regularly or hardly ever used, so that I never noticed.

[LegacyUG] Calculated Date Terminology Error - Still Exists

2009-07-28 Thread Kay Fordham

Using 7.0.0.97, 10 July 2009

In April I reported an anomaly regarding using the calendar feature to
calculate a date. It shows properly as "cal 3 April 1849" in the Family
View; however, it shows "ber 3 April 1849" in the print preview and printed
copy.

Brian confirmed the problem and submitted a problem report on the issue. His
explanation was "You will only see the error if you change the report
language. So long as you were using the default language you used to install
Legacy the term is correct. Once you change language, however, the error in
the .trn file changes Legacy's term for Calculated from Cal to Ber in all
the future chart styles you create.

This bug was obviously not fixed in the last build. It is necessary for me
to frequently create Family Group Sheets in German and French. Once this is
done I then get ber rather than cal when switching back to the English
language. This is a major problem for me. Any idea when this bug will be
fixed?

Thanks,
Kay Fordham ( in sunny and hot Temecula, CA)

Is there a way to automatically download DNA results from FTDNA into Legacy?

With 67 markers it might be error prone to enter them manually.

I've figured it out. The RIN displays by the name and the User ID is

Roger and June -

A possible "work around" would be to only use the surname box and enter "U Sun
Cha" or "Chan Dei Chong" Do not enter anything in the given name box - leave it
blank.

This should print as you want and will keep the names in the index correctly.

Thanks, Terri - yesterday afternoon after uploading the latest update and still
having the same problem, I sat at my computer and looked at everything I had
checked on every tab of the Problems Report. I found exactly what you
described below - I had checked All Records. That is my default choice. It
was only when I carefully read the descriptions for Normal check and the other
options that I realized even excluded problems would show if I checked "All

2009-07-28 Thread Ken Carkeet

Greetings!

Can someone please tell me if it's possible to increase the line spacing
between the title and subtitle when printing out a page from the photo album
in *.PDF format. I have found it necessary to format the main title in all
upper case letters as the tails on some normal lower case letters like "y"
and "g" tend to overwrite slightly some of the letters in the subtitle. If I
could only increase the space between the title and subtile just a little
bit then this problem would be solved.

Thanks for reading my request.

Regards,

Kenneth Carkeet

[LegacyUG] user ID vs RIN update

2009-07-28 Thread Dede Holden
This is a little strange. After my last post, I went back to Legacy
and played with these Options some more. Now my User ID field is back
on the Family View, even though I have selected only RINs. Is this a
qwirk that comes from the new update and once you go in and play with
it, the User ID field returns? Anybody else? I know it wasn't there
at first because I was going to enter a User ID number and there was
no place to enter it until I changed the options.

I hope someone can validate my sanity. I have been working too many
hours lately and may need a rest!

[LegacyUG] User ID field

2009-07-28 Thread Dede Holden
I've searched the archives and can't find that this has been addressed.

I have just updated to the version 7.0.0.100.  Now I've realized that
I have to choose between seeing the User ID and the RIN on the Family
View.  What?   I use both of these fields for two separate numbers,
not related, and can't understand why that option is no longer
available.  I'm thinking it was probably because the Temple and
FamilySearch info has been updated/added, but I'm a little distressed
at this new development.

Any chance that Legacy will rethink this and give us back the option
of seeing both of these numbers?
