Re: [LegacyUG] Pocket Genealogist vs. GedStar Pro

2009-08-12 Thread Simon Dick
It will work on the Pre using Classic (
http://www.motionapps.com/classic/overview/ ) but obviously that's not
really the ideal way of using it...

You could even run it on Windows Mobile using StyleTap, but that's
probably a bit over the top :)

I agree with you about the netbook. I have the Samsung and it is so
wonderfully portable and has 9 hours of battery life, so it works great for
taking to libraries or anywhere. I use Gedwise to refer to when there is
something I don't recall about my data, but for taking down information, a
netbook is working out very well.

Must admit that I used to use PG, but since getting a 10" netbook I've
been tending to use that in preference (though the annoying keyboard

Re: [LegacyUG] Batch enter event

2009-08-12 Thread Jenny M Benson

1familytree wrote
I searched the archive but could not find a reference to batch creation
of an event for a selection of individuals
(I.e. create an event called "tombstone" for all persons tagged #9,
date = after "death date" (take death sort date and change prefix 00 to
40 and update burial sort date ) place = "Cemetery name".

I thought I remembered seeing a request like this before but I couldn't
find it in the archives.

Any help to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

I think the best you can do would be to create a search list of all the
people you wanted, create the Event for one of them and then use the
Event Clipboard to copy and paste (with amendment where necessary) to
everyone else in the search list.

Re: [LegacyUG] Access Table

2009-08-12 Thread SgtBob
I do not have the original GEDCOM since this occurred some time ago.

I think I will just wade through the 800+ Files, change the current filing and
try to remember this incident when I next utilize a GEDCOM. Live and learn.

Dennis - I realize that MRIN's do not have dashes in them, but this is one of
those file systems encountered some time ago that utilizes the method I tried
to describe.
