Re: [LegacyUG] Does anyone know how to increase max number of children from 60 to 99

2009-09-21 Thread brenzelmf
If I THINK that the person may have a connection to my family, I put them in a
separate database that I call "Unconnected People". There are lots of unlinked
individuals in there. Once I make the connection, then I use split screen to
move them from that database to my main one.

Re: [LegacyUG] Question about "Vacation Event" and Thank You for Godparent event ideas.

2009-02-16 Thread brenzelmf

I have a His/Her Godfather and His/Her Godmother events (2 for each). These
are given to a person who's baptism is being recorded. This is used regardless
of whether the godfather or godmother is related AND in my database.

I have Godfather/Godmother events that I use for the person who is actually the
Godfather or Godmother. This event states that the person was the godfather or
godmother for so-and-so on such date and in such location. That way if the
person is in my database, he/she gets one of these events. If he/she is not,
then this event is not recorded. There is not always a one-for-one recording
of these.

Look through the Legacy Archives and the Newsletters published by Millenia.
You will find a lot of discussion about this. My system is one discussed in a

Re: [LegacyUG] Searching globally

2008-09-22 Thread brenzelmf
Gee, thanks, Mike! When I first read your response, I took your tone to be
that of someone who was tired of seeing questions from ignorant members of the
Legacy user community. You told me to "wake up" as if I was blind or stupid.
Am I wrong? You've never responded like that before, have you?

I was looking at the "Search" function that results from the Toolbar button. I
use this very often and am pretty well-versed with it. That is what I assumed
Ron was talking about. But before you saying anything else, I know - I
shouldn't assume anything. Since I couldn't find it there, I thought I would
ask what I thought was an innocent question.

I am not an ignorant user. I have done many of my own updates using Access. I
just know that there are many functions of the program itself that I haven't
needed or looked for in all the years I've used it.

Re: [LegacyUG] Map My Family Tree - why is this such a big deal?

2006-12-12 Thread brenzelmf
I for one am tired of these discussions away from the topic of Legacy and how
we use it.

Dora, if there are shortcomings with MMFT, then just drop this discussion and
go back to Family Atlas.

Re: [LegacyUG] Map My Family Tree - how do I recover my registration key?

2006-12-12 Thread brenzelmf
I'm a little confused. I purchased this software directly from Progeny. The
CD arrived in the mail yesterday. There is no registration key. All I had to
do was install it. Started working with it immediately.
