RE: [LegacyUG] Merging Charts

2009-06-16 Thread RICHARD SCHULTHIES

I have done this more than a few times.
1. Look at the size of both files. If each between 1-9, pick one to be
the 'master' and the other be added into it. Move all RINs into User ID. Back
it all up.
2. Take the 'to be added' and using import/export and during the process,
import using 'starting with' RINs 11; as 5432 should become 105432, so you
can check the accuracy.
If your files are larger, (or smaller) use the tool 1('#of0's)1.

2009-06-14 Thread John S. Adams

Veronica,
You could create such a chart by printing out two descendant charts and
cutting & pasting the paper. And you wouldn't have to do much, if any,
cutting, if you judicially arranged the individual boxes. However, I can't
think of any way to create a single computer file that merges the two.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Merging Charts

Hi everyone,

I'm a relatively new user of Legacy Family Tree v7.0 and I have a query in
regards to charting. What I am trying to do essentially is create a
standard descendant chart but with two groups of descendants merged on the
one chart - that is, I am trying to get the descendants of both of my
grandparents on the same chart, where the common link is the marriage of
my parents. I can create the separate charts for each set of my
grandparents easily enough but I can't seem to combine them together, by
copying/pasting or otherwise.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can achieve this, or if it is even
achievable in Legacy Charting v7.0?

Thanks in advance.

Veronica.

I don't think so. There are only two other messages from you in the
archives (east European characters) , and nothing related to this
subject. That's always assuming that you used your name and not an

RE: [LegacyUG] Merging Charts

2009-06-14 Thread Branko and Chris
Hi Veronica and Dede,

I have had the same need a number of times and found a solution via Tree
Draw Legacy which reads the Legacy database directly, no data conversion
(see Legacy web page). You can use the Descendent or Ancestral Tree view.
The Ancestral view will give you what you seek but unfortunately you may
need to clean up the output file as it will include all ancestors some of
which you may not want to show. It’s easy to use. It has a fantastic feature
where you can select the page size to almost anything without having a
printer driver for that size paper. I use A1 page size (equivalent to 8
normal printer pages), convert to PDF and print on A3 at work, and it's
still legible.

Many Thanks
Branko and Chris
