I do it in a similar fashion, Tom. Started using Nvu, copy and paste, as it is slightly 'cleaner'. It is a simple matter to insert images and add hyperlinks to other pictures and data. RE: [LegacyUG] Trying to make a digital copy
Hello Roger Thanks, Roger, that's a good tip to cut 'n paste. Seems to me an excellent way to give a copy of my Family History to others when they ask, even though it's still not near 'complete' Ha ha!! Most people have access to a browser and can read as much, or about whom, as interests them. And an updated copy is easy to make.Yes, even though my database is not all done and 'smick, I can make an html file and just change a few things for that particular person if I want to. I've a lot to learn still, Roger. RE: [LegacyUG] Trying to make a digital copy
Hi Tom, If you want an html copy of a Descendant Report, you don't have to go through Word (rtf format). You can go straight to html. Just choose the HTML file button instead of the Rich Text File button. However, I think Ron is talking about using the Internet Create Web Pages options in Legacy. I also feel that if it comes down to progamming detail, again this is often best done off-list if it concerns someone's specific problem rather than a general issue. Have a play by setting yourself as the start person in Family View then going to InternetCreate Web Pages Select Pedigree on the right hand side and press the big Create button on the top right. The files will be stored in C:\Legacy\Web but when the pages are created you will be asked if you want to view them just answer yes and have a look. They will not be exactly what you want as you have made no selections but they will be a website! I will contact you off-list about the ins and outs. Hi Ron, OH if I only knew how to do that. I have thought about it for years, just not enough courage or time to try learn it. I'm a cut past kinda person. KISS--I can fix my PC, my mother's and a lot of things, but the web page stuff just won't sink in. So I figured this would be the next best thing to add to my list of backup methods to be able to access from anywhere some of the relatives to help work on. Donna _ Txt a lot? While selecting options for your Report, tick the button at right for Text File or HTML File. The Preview button greys out, and you can select Create. Save your new file to your Desktop. In Google Documents, select Upload File and navigate to your new file.. A 12-page Descendant Chart, saved as HTML, is only 38kb. Google Documents is fine for shared viewing. I would avoid shared editing unless you are used to it, it can be very frustrating and confusing g Regards, Mary Young Have you unlocked the real power of Legacy? RE: [LegacyUG] Trying to make a digital copy
As it has been said it's a doodle (lol) to make a digital copy with Legacy. My question is: is it possible to edit that copy once it's made? That is, can I add other pictures, change the wording of text and so on?
