Re: [LegacyUG] couple married twice
I just tried to duplicate the relationship calculator error. I did not however add a second made up marriage since Asa has 2 marriages already. Do you mean I should have made a third marriage? When I tested in both 5 and six I did not see Rev. Nathan Brown disappear when 16 (his son Lorenzo) was on the left or the right. 16 Lorenzo - 23 Rev. Nathan R - 1 Asa Clark Brown was on the left and 98 Loraine Chandler - 93 David Clark - 1 Asa Clark Brown was on the right. They were reported as half-1st cousins. That should be correct since Rev. Nathan Brown and David Clark Brown are half-brothers. Brian Customer Support Millennia Corporation [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com We are changing the world of genealogy! Example, the relationship problem in Legacy 4, 5 and 6 is easily demonstrated by adding a made-up second marriage for Asa Brown and viewing the relationship chart for descendants #16 and #98. One generation (Rev. Nathan Brown) disappears when #16 is on the left side. - Original Message - From: Jenny M Benson This seems like a good point for me to pass on my tip of having a second Family File in Legacy called something like Test. Re: [LegacyUG] couple married twice
I took my own suggestion and added a third marriage for Asa Clark Brown. I then found that the error you describe does occur, if that dummy marriage is sorted between the two real marriages or is the first of Asa's Marriages. When the marriage is the first David Clark Brown will disappear. Now I know how to write a bug report I will submit one so this can be addressed, at least in Version 6.0. Re: [LegacyUG] couple married twice
Mary Ann, I added a new wife and selected the same person (link to an existing person), and used the new date. I made sure to note the status of the divorce in the previous MRIN. I also changed the wording in the second marriage to say remarried instead of married - comes out much neater and clearer. So it reads something like (from memory): John Doe married Jane Smith on 2 Feb 1966. This marriage ended in divorce on 28 Jan 1970. John Doe remarried Jane Smith on 6 Aug 1980. I do not know if it is correct. We showed them divorced and in events put remarried date etc. On the marriage information page. Re: [LegacyUG] couple married twice
Well, actually, you could also put teh information in the notes. I'd say it's a matter of how you prefer to handle it. Tehre is no hard and fast way to handle data in genealogy. For instance, I never went through the detailed source screens - I just put sources in my notes, and I have only one sort of them per person. Mary Ann Gauer wrote What is the best way to enter a couple who married each other twice? Married each other, divorced and then married each other again? I presume you already have the couple's original marriage and then any other marriages they contracted entered. Click on the icon representing the wife/wives of the husband and then select Add New Wife and then select Link to an Existing Person. Choose the woman to whom he was previously married and has married again. Legacy will point out that he is already linked to this woman and ask if you want to link him again. Re: [LegacyUG] couple married twice
Mary Ann, Do you want one group sheet or two? The couple in my files had one son born during each marriage and I wanted to keep the family together on one group sheet. Second marriage was on the same date and month as the first marriage. No other spouses were involved. Consider the Legacy reports and charts for each data entry option. Check file transfers if you use non-Legacy products for wall charts or a web site. - Original Message - From: Mary Ann Gauer What is the best way to enter a couple who married each other twice?
