Re: [LegacyUG] Deleting Sources from Selected Individuals

Hi Gene,
Now you're back to a long long way around to my solution ;-)

I haven't tried it but you should be able to use an Intellishare
merge to merge the tagged group back with the original source
attached only to the relevant people. No need to copy and paste each one.

Tag all the people you wish to save the details for and export them
to a new file. After deleting the old master source open the two
files in a split window and copy the info one by one.

I never said it would be easy, just possible. :-)

RE: [LegacyUG] Deleting Sources from Selected Individuals

2007-05-09 Thread Cathy

Hi Mark,
As I understand it, that is not what Dick wants to do.
He has a source which is correctly assigned to some people but
incorrectly assigned in the unspecified field to lots of others.

However, you can delete a source without deleting individually each
instance of it.

1) Open Master Source list
2) Highlight the desired source
3) Click the Show List button
4) Click the Delete this Master Source and all citations to it button
5) When asked whether you really want to do this say Yes.

Dick - how many correct citations do you have for this source?

It may be easier to
1) tag these people where the source is correctly assigned and export
them to a new temporary Legacy file.

2) delete the Master Source as above
3) import the Legacy file you created and use the Intellishare merge.
The only difference between the people exported and reimported and
those same people in the original source would be that source.

Cheers,
Cathy

This is a list of all the Individuals who have this source attached. You
will then have to delete this source from any event attached to these
people. There is no automatic way to do this and is/can be laborious.

4) when you have deleted all the attached sources, run through steps 1-3
again to double-check. You may have missed some.
5) highlighted the source in the Master Source List
6) click the [Options] button then Delete Master Source.

I believe the OP (original poster) wanted to delete the Master Source
"citations" from only some individuals, but not all of them, and keep the
original Master Source and it's citations for the other individuals - so,
steps 5 and 6 won't be necessary in that case.

Kind regards,
