Thanks all for straightening me out. Bill's response was especially helpful. When I am in the picture gallery of Legacy (latest version) and try to rearrange individual photos by dragging dropping as the help file says can be done, I see the cursor change to a hand with a picture in it, but the photos will not rearrange. I can't figure out why they will not. A second symptom occurs when I use the dropdown box to change from Individual to All Pictures. Now I have more 'pictures' on display but when I try to drag drop, the cursor stays as an arrow rather than changing to the hand icon. And of course I still can't drag drop pictures to rearrange them. So, first problem is that I can't drag drop to rearrange photos, but could the 2nd problem be caused by the fact that I store my scanned documents in my documents folder but bring them into the photo gallery along with the normal photos from the photo gallery? Is it not possible to do this? RE: [LegacyUG] Pictures Documents
Dave, Are you trying to drag in such a way that a blank frame would be left in the middle of the pictures? If so, Legacy 7 doesn't seem to allow this, although I am pretty sure that Legacy 6 did by moving the others to fill the gap that otherwise would be created. Legacy 7 does allow dragging by dragging onto another picture - so sorting is still possible. Perhaps someone still using Legacy 6 can try this? Re: [LegacyUG] Pictures Documents
Dave, I have experienced both these problems regarding not being able to rearrange photos in V7.0.0.55. BTW, None of my photos are in the Documents folder (all are in subfolders of the Picture folder) so that doesn't seem to be the answer. After reading Ron's post, I found that I COULD rearrange photos in the manner he states. But I still can't rearrange photos when displaying All Pictures. I don't remember if I could in V6. RE: [LegacyUG] Pictures Documents
I have found that when I a. add a photo, then b. move a different photo to the 'new last spot' (immediately), the photo sometimes ignores the task. I have trained myself to move the new photo to the 'other' spot, then move the 'other' photo to the last spot. Since it is not consistant in the problem, I wasn't sure if it was me or not. Re: [LegacyUG] Pictures Documents
I may be completely off base but my understanding of documents in this situation is that it refers to the type of media as opposed to the difference between a picture and a birth certificate. If I have a jpeg file of a birth certificate, I would still attach it as a photo (because that is the type of media file it is). If I have a report or pages of a book in a pdf file or a Word doc, I would attach that as a document. Thanks All of the last three would be photos (or more accurately, digital images) IMO. Documents would include anything that is in a text-type file, including information *transcribed* from other media. So the census image would be a photo, but if you copy the information into a spreadsheet or Word file that is a document.
