Re: [LegacyUG] Status of bugs
Thanks Goeff That's very helpful to know. As I have previously written, I still think Legacy is the best genealogy software out there, even with the v7 bugs. Knowing an update is near is helpful. Re: [LegacyUG] Status?
Folks, The Millennia folks had to go to a new e-mail system because of significant problems with the old one. At the time they told us the Digest version was not working with the new system but that after they got the kinks out of it they would look at the Digest option. Then the new system blew up. Why don't we sit tight and give these poor guys a chance to digest what's going on so they make the right decisions about implementation and serving us. I promise you that all these e-mails griping about the lack of a Digest mode ain't getting it implemented any faster. Jim On 7/19/06, program-info [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Yes, what I'd like to see would be like others do, for example the Yahoo groups. When you sign up, there is a place to pick Individual E-mails Daily Digest (and maybe this isn't a good example because Yahoo offers other choices as well) but I think you get the idea. I would like everyone to be happy here, so that's why I'm thinking if we could pick to get one daily digest OR individual e-mails that that would keep us all satisfied. I wouldn't dream of trying to tell people who prefer individual e-mails that they have to have one daily digest. Re: [LegacyUG] Status?
I, too, appreciate the effort to straighten out the LUG issues. Might I make a suggestion for future reference? In the event (heaven forbid) that this happens again, it might be a very good idea, customer-relationswise, to put a noticeable message on the website to the effect that there are currently mailing list problems, and that they are being actively addressed. I saw at least two messages since the list was reactivated today from people who signed up during the outage and had no idea what was going on. Most of us know that this is a very active list, but to them, it must have looked like a black hole. Since Millennia must have had some idea between July 5 and today that the problem was on your end, it would have taken at most 5 minutes to place a notice on a web page. I sent this suggestion to Sherry earlier today just before the list was resurrected, but, by then, I guess it was unnecessary. RE: [LegacyUG] Status?
Ed, Thanks for your comments. We did, on July 17, publish an article to our daily Legacy blog (see http://legacynews.typepad.com/legacy_news/2006/07/millennias_emai.html) about the current status as well as published the information in the Legacy News section of Legacy Home. We should have published it to our website as well, but overlooked it. We appreciate your support. Mary, so you want a choice of digest or individual email and not digest instead of emails as your message said? And that's just fine if you don't want a daily digest. Every other on-line group I belong to has the choice between individual e-mails and a daily digest. Since they all offer a choice, it just didn't seem to me that it could be too hard. Mary Mary, I hate to do this when the list has only been running for a few hours. RE: [LegacyUG] Status?
I believe we have all heard enough today about the pros and cons of what legacy is doing to correct the problems since July 5. For one, I find it unacceptable and disgusting that so many Monday morning quarterbacks had come out of hiding and that they wanted to tell Legacy what it should and should not do. I prefer not to take the shoulddy approach to life. Why don't we all back off and give Legacy the time it takes to correct the problems it knows about better than we do. If someone has that sudden urge to blast the Legacy staff for their inefficiency, then let them send an email directly to the staff. The rest of us might like to get on with our lives! I was under the impression that this List was a LUG list and not a personal one to any of us to vent our feelings about things we obviously do not know anything about. Perhaps Legacy is looking at the forest and not just one or two dead trees! I have reproduced below a few of the emails that were posted on the LUG today that I believe represent the right way to handle this matter. Thank you for sharing! Your friends, Jim Earlene McIntosh Have a great day with your best friend -- our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us!
