Re: [LegacyUG] using marriage tags

2008-10-14 Thread Richard Van Wasshnova
Since I'm sourcing many marriages to to a newfound source it definitely
helps me to see tags on the marriage list for all that are sourced to it. I
can globally tag all individials using the source but tagging marriages can
only be done one at a time. Still worth the effort. I agree it would be nice
to show 'only tagged marriages'.

The trick I use is to tag the husbands (or wives), and use the search on
individuals, which finds the marriages, missing only the women (or men) with no
spouse. But that should grab 90% or better. I have found tagging the marriages
useless since the marriage list is never trimmed, but it shows both spouses in
the individual list instead. In the past, it didn't show 'only tagged
marriages', like the Search list. I asked for this in L5.

Thanks Elizabeth. That works although very tedious. I tagged the Individuals
easily from source list but it seems there is no way to tag marriage tags
from a list in bulk. Now I'm tagging marriages as I do them but if I forget
to tag there's no way to check.

Re: [LegacyUG] using marriage tags

2008-10-12 Thread Elizabeth Richardson
Richard, I have not tried this, but think it will work. First, go ahead and
create a search list as you have described in the Master Sources "show
list". Then in the Name List, under "Search", choose "Show Search List".
This will be a bit slow, but you can edit a person's marriage from this
screen. Click on edit marriage, then click on the Marriage Tag number you
want to tag. I don't think there is a way to globally tag the marriages, but
at least you will have selected your list.

I am currently working on a new marriage source. I would like to tag
Marriage Tag 1 for all marriages sourced to this source.

I can view > master lists > source > select and tag the source or show list.
On show list I can tag Individuals but not the marriage tag.

I can search > Individual > source-master source > contains > XXX
I would like to search > Marriage > source-master source > contains > XXX
and show list but this would not show a tagged marriage list.

I can manually tag marriages now as I source them but would like to easily
tag what I already sourced.

Thanks for any help.
