Re: [LegacyUG] Ref: Tagging
First go to the first person in the future group, then View (on the toolbar), then Focus group. There are 8 tabs which you can add into the future group. Near the bottom you can switch to a different person to start from. For example make the first choice Mary Smith; all her ancestors, then Mary's descendants, lastly her mother inlaw (only). When you have named and saved, you can attach any tag number to all at once. Help does not full explain how to mark individuals. If I add a tag it turns blue for everyone not just for him? I don't understand why you're having a problem! To me, it's a very simple matter of, as I enter the data in the Notes, to click one of 3 displayed tags. Before you start, decide which tag you're going to use and give it a meaningful description. Each individual that you enter data in the Notes for should have the same tag set. Later on, I can then create a list of all those individuals that have that tag set. Using the list, I can then work through them one at a time, and when finished, click on the tag again to remove it, thus taking them off the list. Have you read up on the Advanced Tagging window? Right-click on one of the 3 tags displayed on an individual and you'll see the options. Here you can assign that description I mentioned and, through the big button at the bottom, decide which 3 of the 9 tags to show. -- Regards, Mike Fry Johannesburg Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergr...@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
Re: [LegacyUG] New adding a 2nd marriage
You can also print out all the keyboard shortcuts from the help file right inside Legacy. Just type keyboard into the search box inside help. I agree! I've been using Legacy for more than 5 years and I'm continually amazed at what more there is to learn about using this powerful program :) Ron and June wrote: I have been using Legacy for many years now and didn't realise that you could do the following!! All good stuff! Once the information is finished, from the family screen click on the border area to the left of grandpa's information and it will scroll through his spouses. You can also use keyboard commands. From grandpa's screen type AW. If you have the book, the instructions begin on page 85. The book, however, is no way near as good as the videos. [LegacyUG] Problem No. 1218
Hello Everyone I made a mess of the Master Source List. I have two Sources with the same info. One is template 174 And the other is template 154. I want to delete template 174. I tried deleting 174 and I get message that states can not delete because it is being used' I click on SHOW and up comes 100 to 125 names. Is there a way to fix this. Re: [LegacyUG] Ref: Tagging
This is perfect for the TO DO list. As you find a new person, create the individual info with the main screen, then before leaving that person make a TODO. Example: You found Mary and Steve's marriage record, make two TODOs for them, one each, stating find birth and death next. Then it makes the list with only the people needing work, which you can prune for those needing only one type of record. As a person is completed and sourced, remove them from the list. There is indexing available on line for birth, death marriage records from the 1830's through the 1880's. When I find the name of a parent I go and pick up all the information from the indexes for that family and put it into the notes. Then when I have time, I go back and do the data entry and sourcing for the family. I want to tag just an individual not a whole group. I may have 7 or 8 people I need to find to finish their information at a time. As I work with exit records, parents are listed and I try to put the whole family together. After I tag an individual, how then do I find that person quickly again. The number 1 or 2 or 3 show and turn blue but when I click on it nothing happens. Where do I go to find that person with the tag. Yes, I can go to the name list or Index but I do not always remember the name I am looking for. I am data entering close to a 100 people a day. I need to fully understand how to tag individuals so I can quickly find them to finish them up. Re: [LegacyUG] Ref: Tagging
I'm sorry. I had sent the details about Focus groups to here this morning. That is the way to 'mass' tag a group. The Focus Groups and To Do Lists are two different ways to accompish similar tasks. I wrongly thought you had seen the 'Focus' stuff, so I showed the 'other way'.
