Re: [LegacyUG] Insatlling citation into digital Image, was scanning photographs
First, I create the citation using source writer. Select the text of the citation and hit cntl-c to copy. (If I am going to use the citation many times I save a model of it as a text file.) Then, in the windows picture library I right click the photograph and select properties. Click the details tab and paste (cntl-v) the citation into the subject field. If it is a photograph that I took myself than I probably will use Photoshop to add a lot more detail about the photograph, but that discussion should probably go offline. Unfortunately, Microsoft Picture Editor does not allow me to edit properties. -Original Message- From: Julie A. Re: [LegacyUG] New Mac
You would need to run something like Parallels which is what I do myself. Once setup it is quite easy to use, and Legacy can be run from there. You can also drag an drop files from Parallels to Os if it is setup to do so. Re: [LegacyUG] New Mac
There is no Mac version of Legacy, however; If you have a Mac with the Intel chipset and the new OS-X, you can install Windows, either under Parallels, Bootcamp or Fusion and you will be able to run Legacy with no problem. If you have an older version of the Mac OS, you will need to install a Windows emulator like Real PC, SoftWindows or Virtual PC, Legacy will run just fine, although slower than it would under Windows. Other than that i can be of no help because I don't have a Mac. Possibly someone on the list will be more helpful. Tim On 5/16/2011 3:00 PM, cehw...@netzero.net wrote: > I purchased an iMac computer. Re: [LegacyUG] Page numbering problem on Multiple Line of Descent Report
Thank you Evert, Laird Gene & Brian/Support for taking the time to assist me with the Table of Contents page numbering problem as outlined in my initial posting. Although Laird and Gene were unable to duplicate the situation it was reassuring to know that Evert and Brian at support was able to confirm there is a 'bug' in the program. As Brian stated it has been reported and I look forward to the fix. Laird, as I noted in my initial posting the report I was producing was strictly a Multiple Line Descendant Report with a Title Page, Table of Contents, body of the Report, Citations and Index. The report was based on close to 30 Lines of descent and the problem with the page numbering of the Table of Contents appears whether the report was produced as a stand alone or within the Publishing Centre. The problem also occurred if I dropped the Title Page and the Index but as I previously indicated the Table of Contents pages must exceed two to note the page numbering problem. Like you I have the Deluxe Version of Legacy but unlike you mine is based on the latest build 7.5.0.77Perhaps that is where the problem lay. Anyway, as stated, Brian/Support has reported the problem. Re: [LegacyUG] Page numbering problem on Multiple Line of Descent Report
Have run a 48 page report complete with citations for each generation. Table of contents covered 2 pages and the report also had the index of names (6 pages) at the end. All pages were numbered correctly and jumping from section to section, the pages displayed what was in the table of contents. I have the deluxe version 7.5.0.75 Can not confirm your issue. Gene A. From: Ken To: LegacyUserGroup@LegacyUsers.com Sent: Sunday, May 15, 2011 5:47 PM Subject: [LegacyUG] Page numbering problem on Multiple Line of Descent Report Greetings, Although the following appears to be a minor problem, I thought I should bring it to the group's attention to see if I am overlooking a solution. I note it has not been listed in the archives. When producing a Multiple Line of Descendant Report within the Publishing Centre or as a stand alone, the Table of Contents are incorrectly numbered. The second page and those Table of Contents pages that follow are all automatically assigned a page number as though they were the last page of the whole report. In my case each page, 2 through 5, of the Table of Contents were assigned page number 312. The last page of my full report was 311. As the Table of Contents falls at the beginning of the report I was surprised to see it numbered as though it fell at the end but realized the problem was more than that when all the Table of Contents pages, 2 through 5, carried the same incorrect number. Have I done something wrong or is this a bug? If someone tries to duplicate this scenario please make sure your Table of Contents is two or more pages. I tried to see if this situation applied to any other type of report but my line doesn't go back far enough to have at least two pages of generations noted in the Table of Contents for the Ancestor or one name Descendant report. Re: [LegacyUG] Page numbering problem on Multiple Line of Descent Report
Ken, I don't have this problem. Legacy version 7.5.0.67 on Vista 64. Are you seeing this problem on preview or on a printed paper copy? I have not been able to reproduce your problem using. My TOC settings on the Additional TAB are Bold and Use leaders Example 1: I have a Title Page, Copyright Notice Page, Dedication Page, Preface Page, Table Of Contents and an Index selected. Chapters are 2 Ancestors reports, 1 Descendant report, 1 Multiple Lines of Descent followed by 6 Ancestors reports. This produces a book of 174 pages with 3 pages of TOC which doesn't have page numbers. My page number 1 starts with the first page of the first Ancestor chapter. Example 2: I have a Title Page, Copyright Notice Page, Dedication Page, Preface Page, Table Of Contents and an Index selected. It only has one chapter of Multiple Lines of Descent with 11 marriages. This produces a book of 573 pages with 2.5 pages of TOC. As above they do not have page numbers. My page number 1 starts with the first page of the first Descendant. Two hundred thirty six individuals have a photo attached. I have the following settings on the Options TAB>Headings and Page Numbering: 1) Header Position: I have used both Left or Center. 2) Include page numbers on report, Starting page number 1 3) Include the word "Page" before the page number 4) Page Number Position: = Top Right 5) Page Number Font: Arial 8 Footers are not used. Re: [LegacyUG] Publishing Center bug?
Brian, The reason this was a serious problem for me was because I required a PDF/A-1b ver. 1.3 file to send to LuLu.com for publishing. I believe Legacy produces a PDF ver. 1.2 without /A-1b thus fonts can't be properly embedded in the file. I am using PDFCreator as the printer device. This works great IF you knew the correct method to produce a print (file) with the TOC at the beginning. I spent the better part of a day experimenting. reading help and the archives before I discovered the alternate print button in preview. I guess I am just slow.:-) A wonderful enhancement would be for Legacy to produce a PDF/A-1b ver. 1.3 file. As has been said here many times before, and will probably need saying many times again, there is no need to change the file extension when opening a Legacy Family File in Access. (It doesn't matter if you do, but why complicate matters and add extra steps?) All you need do is let Access look for "All files (*.*)" when opening the Family File. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). RE: [LegacyTest] Re: [LegacyUG] connecting a couple together?
I see that the "problem" in Legacy, and hence why it would take a re-write of the coding for Legacy, is that whilst we can change the wording so that reports read correctly Legacy will still show one partner as being a male and one a female on the individual information screen. As far as a report is concerned Legacy doesn't "know" that a particular name is male or female, and changing the wording of the relationship from marriage to civil union or de facto relationship, or even leaving it as marriage in those jurisdictions where such unions are legalised is irrelevant to Legacy. As is the term used for male / female on the Family information screen. The only other visual effect is that one of the same sex partners will appear in the "wrong" colour on their respective Family Information Screen. If we, for example, change the wording on the right side of the form from "Wife" to "Husband" and change the wording from "Marriage" to "Civil Union" we have, as I see it, registered a "Civil Union". We now have a Union between members of the same gender. I don't understand why this is a problem for Legacy? I don't understand what the problem is and would be grateful for an explanation.
