Not having any personal experience of Divorce (just celebrated 36 years with the
wife), doesn't Divorce consist of a "process" in which there are several,
discrete events?

Anyway, wouldn't you want the information in the marriage record, rather than
the individual?

[LegacyUG] Best way to record a divorce

2013-04-17 Thread Tony Rolfe
I have just downloaded a set of divorce papers and was wondering what is
the best way to record this.

There is a standard "Divorce Filing" event, but that doesn't cover a
fraction of the information available.

I have the date of the petition, the date of the decree Nisi and the
date of the final decree, as well as details on the grounds of the
petition and the respondent's response.

I'm thinking of putting the standard event in the wife's events, since
she petitioned for the divorce. Then I'll create a new event for the
Divorce Decrees, so I can record those dates. These would be marriage
events.

Does this sound reasonable and is there anything I've missed?

Thanks

Tony

Re: [LegacyUG] Picture Order

2013-04-17 Thread 2marion wimps
Nothing to do with that for me - I like my photos to appear in "date" order
and as I come across a "new" photo (one I have not scanned in before) I
like it to appear in the approximate date range - if there are a lot of
photos in the file this can take a while to do - and it took even longer
when I was trying to rearrange some that I had not done at the time of
scanning!

All font sizes are controlled for the Options--> Customise--> Fonts page. Note

Dragging a picture from the bottom to the top does seem to work for me. But
this thread has me wondering about the reason for doing so. If the motivation
is to make that bottom picture be the one that shows up in family view or on
certain reports, then it need not be moved. It can simply be flagged as the
preferred picture. (Select it and then click the little asterisk button next to

My only gripe with this is that if you have a lot of pictures and want to move
one from the bottom to the top you have to do it in "stages" - you can't just
drag it from the bottom to the top of the rest of the photos - and it is very
annoying.
