Re: [LegacyUG] Can someone please tell me how to include all spouses when creating a gedcom
Hi Pat, I was wondering how you didn't have the spouses so I tried what I think you are doing. 1. Making a Focus Group 2. Exporting that Focus Group to Gedcom. This has got to be a bug. I looked at the Focus Group and the spouses are all there but when I exported that Focus Group to a Gedcom, the spouses are missing. Workaround. Go to search - Miscellaneous tab - Focus group Create new list and then tag the list. Export the tag group. Cathy Pat Hickin wrote: > > I want all of the spouses of all the descendants, please! [LegacyUG] Can someone please tell me how to include all spouses when creating a gedcom
I want all of the spouses of all the descendants, please! I should think that would be standard practice but I'm not getting ANY spouses!! I don't recall having this problem until recently. Thanks! [LegacyUG] Data missing after importing Gedcom file
Hi all I'm about to migrate to Legacy but have found a serious problem when importing Gedcom files and this is causing the migrating to stop. I have a GEDCOM file but if an event for an individual contains both note, media-link and source, then the note is not imported. If source or media-link doesn't exist, then the note is imported. The content of the GEDCOM is: 0 HEAD 1 GEDC 2 VERS 5.5 2 FORM LINEAGE-LINKED 1 CHAR UTF-8 1 SUBM @U1@ 1 DATE 13 DEC 2014 2 TIME 21:32:32 GMT+1 0 @I1@ INDI 1 _UPD 13 DEC 2014 21:32:17 GMT+1 1 NAME MyFirstName /MyFamilyname/ 2 GIVN MyFirstName 2 SURN MyFamilyname 1 SEX M 1 BIRT 2 SOUR @S1@ 2 NOTE @N2@ 1 CENS 2 SOUR @S1@ 2 NOTE @N3@ 2 OBJE 3 FORM jpg 3 TITL 1699-09-04 Frederik Christian Sach, Holmen sogn 1695-1702 3 FILE C:\Users\Karsten\Documents\MyHeritage\T1\Photos\P1_3697_3104.jpg 0 @N3@ NOTE 1 CONC MyCustomDescription 0 @S1@ SOUR 1 _UPD 13 DEC 2014 21:31:59 GMT+1 1 TITL MySource 0 TRLR If the lines "2 OBJE" to "3 FILE" are removed, then the description "MyCustomDescription" is shown. I have created 2 sample GEDCOM files, and in the file with both media and source, then the NOTE (value MyCustomDescription) is not imported. All the sample files can be found here: http://legacy.weikop.com/data.zip Open the 2 legacy files and you will see that in "t1 with", the description/NOTE is not imported but in "t1 no", the description exist. Re: [LegacyUG] Strange problem with pictures
I have been following the thread. Here are some other points to consider: 1. Check the picture in his gallery (does the preferred picture (*) also have a check mark (tagged)?). Compare that to the settings for pictures on the internet > create web pages screen. There should be a setting to only include tagged preferred pictures on the Other tab for the web pages. If that setting is selected and his preferred picture is not tagged then that would explain the missing picture for him. 2. Where is this problem person in the descendants report? Is he a direct descendant of the starting person, a spouse of a descendant or the starting person? 3. Are you talking of his own web page or where he is shown as a child within a family? Pictures will not be duplicated where a person is a child if they also have their own page in the next generation. The pictures should appear in the child list for those who will not be continued in the next generation. Either the last generation or where they have no descendants. Re: [LegacyUG] Strange problem with pictures
Further update: using another picture (the picture of this wife that appears correctly next to his wife's info) did not solve the problem. Visible at his wife's info, not with his info. So I seem to come to the conclusion that the picture is not the issue, but the person. But what should trigger to exclude this image from this person? When I put the missing picture (so his picture) on his wife, the picture becomes visible next to her information. I have also ran a checkup/repair on the whole database and a check on all pictures paths I use. Anyone from Legacy looking into these mails? Or should I file a report to them? Jenny, Thank you again for your response. I just wanted to confirm that I wasn't missing something. It would be nice to have this work but it's not a significant problem thus far for me. I think the problem is that when you attach a Source both to an Individual and to a General To-Do you would need two message boxes to appear - one which tells you which Individuals use the Source and one which tells you which General To-Dos use the Source. This is possibly not an insurmountable problem for the programmers but perhaps something they haven't thought was needed. If you attach a Source to an Individual To-Do, that Individual will show up in the "using this Source list". -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://support.legacyfamilytree.com Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). RE: [LegacyUG] Strange problem with pictures
Rob, I’m afraid I’m at a loss. Perhaps now that you’ve described your problem with more detail, someone else will recognize this oddity and can offer a suggestion. If it were me, I would look to the specific photo. It sounds like it must be something odd about this photo. Perhaps remove it, then re attach to this individual. Before re attaching, re name the photo. Now try creating your html pages and see if it shows up. Is this a recently added photo to your database? What style of internet pages are you attempting to create? Maybe this would help other Legacy users to offer suggestions. MEL From: Rob Vader [mailto:r.va...@gmail.com] Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Strange problem with pictures MEL, thanks for thinking with me. I did all you suggested. Upgraded to the latest version of 7.5 and checked all you mentioned. But no solution It is the descendants report where the problem is. When I generate it as an RTF report, no problem. When I generate it as an HTML report, no problem. But when I generate it as Internetpages then the picture is not included in the pics directory. Checking the HTML-source it also shows that the needed HTML code is not included. No HTML code what so ever for this particular individual. However pictures from an event from him are included, as the picture for his wife. This individual has died, so not an issue with privacy. And when I look in the media overview, his picture is checked and there are no other personal pictures on him. Only pictures linked to events. I do not know what to do anymore.. To be certain we are all on the same page: Are you using the very last release of Legacy 7.5 deluxe, v 7.5.0.286? Are you attempting to create a html report or is your question directed at the creation of html internet pages? If internet pages, check under the ‘Other’ TAB for WEB PAGE CREATION settings and be certain you have ticked the box by ‘Ensure unique picture names’. Under the ‘What’ TAB, be certain Individual Events, Events for marriage and Pictures are ticked. At the moment, this is about all I can think of. Is there something I should not be doping e.g. too long filename (although I see pictures in the directory for the internet pages with equal length. I hope I made myself clear….images are available, do appear in (PDF) reports but do not show up on internet pages as they are not in the directory used by the internet pages. Legacy 8 installs (by default) into a different place to where Legacy 7.5 (by default) did and it is possible to have both versions of the program installed on your computer at the same time. Are you sure you are not opening 7.5 instead of 8? The icons are very different. Instead of opening the program first and then trying to open your Legacy 8 family file, have you tried locating your family file and double-clicking on it? -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://support.legacyfamilytree.com Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
