Re: [LegacyUG] How's the Web Page Output - Legacy v8

2015-02-13 Thread Gordon Small
Thanks Brian. I'm currently redesigning my web site and plan to use a
dynamic web template which, hopefully with the help of Ltools and a couple
other programs, I can insert into the legacy output. The Legacy pages are
only part of the site so I have a ways to go. I expect the site redesign to
take several weeks before I'm ready to start on the Legacy info. I guess
I'll just finish updating my family data in v7.5 and just before creating
the web pages I'll import it all to v8 and see how it goes from there. If I
have too many problems I can always just go back to the v7.5 installation.

Re: [LegacyUG] How's the Web Page Output - Legacy v8

2015-02-13 Thread Jay Wilpolt
Gordon,

I can speak from experience, I hope that you consider using TNG for an
truly dynamic web site online (and not just a dynamic template)
I wasted many, many weeks, and months only to discover that I could have
made my web site even better in less time using TNG.

It not only allows for dynamic templates, but also dynamic Language options
(most major languages) and most importantly, dynamic data display.
So when someone adds or corrects some data, it is easy to get that new data
online vs the laborious task for static pages.

Re: [LegacyUG] Mass Sourcing

2015-02-13 Thread Leon Chapman
Don
You can use Advanced Tagging to tag all the people u want to source.

Then use Advanced Sourcing to source fields for the Tagged people.

Try tagging a couple people and then use a advanced sourcing to assign. Source
to all or specific fields for the Tagged people.

Hi,

When I create a Legacy Ancestor Book, one of the lines that shows up says:

John was born from 31-1-1906 in Toronto.

How do I get rid of the word ‘from’ in tis sentence?

Hi Reinder,

Wait for the next update. They did a GR build and a beta build at the
same time thinking this issue was fixed. It wasn't but several beta
builds later, it is. I would think there'll be a new GR in the next few
days.

[LegacyUG] Latest Build Issues

2015-02-13 Thread gregandlaurel
I just downloaded version 8.0.0.467 and have come across the following after
the update: 1) Additional spaces between words were added to my transcribed
sources under the Text of Source screen in Master Sources. About 25% of my
sources were affected. The extra spaces were just random – anywhere from an
additional one to 5 spaces between words. (Eg: a BronzeMemorial has been
installed). I was able to go in and delete all these added spaces – it was
just time consuming to have to do so. 2) Anything that was bolded was
particularly affected - there were extra spaces before and after many bolded
words. But after removing the extra spacing around bolded words and saving,
the extra spacing would come back. I actually had to change the words from bold
to normal to be able to remove the extra spaces. If I tried to rebold the word
afterwards, the extra spacing would come back. 3) In reports – Indiv., Family,
Ancestor Desc., in random places the period and any spaces around the period,
have been replaced by 2 horizontal lines. (Eg: Married in the Anglican Church
of St||Paul’s||Witnesses were Sally). The horizontal lines have a break
in the middle, but I don’t have the symbol on my keyboard to show you. I have
ran a Check/Repair, Compact File and booted my computer, but these issues are
still there. I can live without the bolded words, but the reports don’t look
too pretty with the missing spaces and || in place of periods. Is anyone else
noticing this? Laurel
