Re: [LegacyUG] Locked out of Legacy

2017-07-19 Thread Cathy Pinner

Bill,
If you restore a backup file, do run a check/repair on it straight away.
A Legacy backup zip preserves your database as it is.

You only lose SourceWriter sources if you use a Gedcom. Gedcom is not
the way to backup your Legacy file as a normal rule.

Error 3021 has been around from time to time since I began using Legacy
in 1998. It has various causes and a check/repair normally fixes it but
not always.
These "individual not found" errors are relatively new. Some relate to
hinting.

It could be a good idea to turn hinting off when doing merges.

If you keep getting errors, contact Support.

Did a manual merge of individual, and got message can't find
individual ID 44475 (this was not the record numbers of either ID).
And then Error Checking for shared events. Error 3021: No current
record. When hitting user prompt "YES" for try again get endless loop.
When hitting "NO" prompt, back to individual ID 44475 not found and
message Run-time-error 440: No current record. How do I get Legacy back?
If I do have to revert back to backup file, is there a way to restore
sources to SourceWriter format?

Thanks for your help.
Bill

There must be some sort of glitch in Legacy 9 as I have gotten the Error
3021 on several occasions while doing different tasks. Hopefully the
programmers will look into and fix the problem in the next update.

I want to build a search query to identify all users with data in the burial
place field but no attached burial address. Can anyone assist? I cannot
figure out how to get attached addresses into the search string.
Thanks,
Scott

Re: [LegacyUG] Query help

Donald:

Thanks. I just loaded Access on my computer as it seems improving my
Access skills is going to be the best way to handle the various things I
want to do with my database. At 102,000 individuals and growing, there's
often a lot of this type of query and consideration I'd like to do. If OK
with you, I may ask some query questions from time-to-time.

[LegacyUG] Locked out of Legacy

2017-07-19 Thread Billy Mittelstadt Jr
Did a manual merge of individual, and got message can't find individual ID
44475 (this was not the record numbers of either ID). And then Error Checking
for shared events. Error 3021: No current record. When hitting user prompt
"YES" for try again get endless loop. When hitting "NO" prompt, back to
individual ID 44475 not found and message Run-time-error 440: No current
record. How do I get Legacy back?
If I do have to revert back to backup file, is there a way to restore sources
to SourceWriter format?

Thanks for your help.

Re: [LegacyUG] [MC-SUSPECTED-SPAM] Re: Print Hashtag report

2017-07-19 Thread Sherry
If you read the "intro" as to why the email is an attachment, you'll
understand. This warning is even posted where you sign up for the list, but
people still continue to use their yahoo and aol accounts

I do find this DMARC stuff terribly annoying. Much of the spam I receive at
my Yahoo email account are actually from other Yahoo accounts, so the DMARC
isn't very helpful!

The Legacy servers are well protected from spam and viruses. There is no
problem with reading these emails.

The original message to the list is in the attachment.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy
imposed by some email providers. Users who want to send messages
without conversion to attachments should use a different email address
for their subscription.

Known providers for free email accounts whose emails do not require
this conversion include gmail.com and hotmail.com. Many other email
providers will also work but you will have to give them a try.

Thanks Cathy, You're right, screen print isn't an option. I needed a
magnifying glass to read it. I like the hashtag idea, and I have about 200 with
all the people in different cemeteries. Only about one third done. Now I must
start all over. These were done in my learning phase of using Legacy and I
screwed up in that I tried to merge 2 family files and got so many duplicates
that I think starting over would be easier. Have about 18,000 people and the
Auto merge only gets a few of the duplicates. Must go through the Manual merge
to sort the rest. Most failure to merge was caused by dates. Must have complete
mm/day/yr or they fail to merge.
Thanks again,
Wayne

Wayne

I'm not sure what you are calling the "Master Report list" I think you
mean the Master List?

Currently you can't print the Hashtag names list. This omission is
entered in the official list of bugs.

Poor Workaround - screenshot the list and print the screenshot.
