Re: [LegacyUG] Transferring Customization Files from Version 8 to 9

2017-10-27 Thread Cathy Pinner
Legacy 9 settings are kept in exactly the same location as Legacy 8
settings ( ...\Documents\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData\ folder -
particularly the usr folder in that folder) which is one of the reasons
why you can't run Legacy 8 and Legacy 9 on the same computer.

To save your colour settings, make sure you save your selection as a
colour scheme. I add my initials to the beginning of the filename so I
can see at a glance which are my modified or built schemes. They're
saved in ...\Documents\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData\ColorSchemes\ folder.

Installing Legacy 9 should keep most of your customisations specially as
the Family File specific ones are also saved in your Family File.
However it's worth going through Options - Customise as there are some
new options particularly in section 8 and some have changed from global
to Family File specific - particularly in section 5.

In the past, the new version installed right over the old version and all
the configuration files were wiped out. From 6 to 7, and again, from 7 to
8.

Yes.

GedSite understands Legacy's sentence templates. Legacy exports them to the
GEDCOM file, and GedSite reads them from there. If you make changes to the
templates in the Event Definition window, then export a GEDCOM file, GedSIte
will see the modified templates and use the new version when you make the
site again.

When exporting the GEDCOM file, set Legacy's "Produce file for:" option to
"Legacy".

Does GedSite also handle Legacy Event template sentences that have been edited
by the user?

Subject: [LegacyUG] New version of GedSite with improvements for Legacy users

Legacy users,

GedSite is a web site builder for GEDCOM files. Version 1.10, released
today, has several important Legacy-related enhancements. This version of
GedSite supports Legacy sentence templates that are managed in Legacy's
"Event Definition" window. This means you can manage GedSite's narrative
output from within Legacy.

As far as I know, only GedSite and Legacy itself will build narratives using
Legacy's sentence templates.

This update is free for registered users of GedSite 1.

information, please use the following (shortened) URL:

The Change Log includes descriptions of other Legacy-related improvements
and fixes:

https://goo.gl/yXq9mU

I'd like to thank the Legacy users who volunteered to help test this version
prior to its release, with special thanks to Debbie Jorgenson who found a
couple bugs and made other useful contributions.
